Awesome night. Didn't get there till about 2:45 a.m as it was a last minute decision. We got there just in time to hear Dumonde. And man did Dumonde drop some sick tracks. They played a really impressive set with good crowd interaction.
Was a pleasure as always to party with my fellow TA's. I love partying with you guys:tongue2. Niveole awesome pics as always, keep up the good work. Can't wait to download the set:D . |

yes it was recorded. it will be an exclusive TA download when it is mastered and ready. |

My first time ever coming down to The Docks and it will not be my last. Wat an amazing night all thanks to my friend Andrew you are crazy dude! MARK thxs for the water buddy HAha :D I could not believe how much energy was on the dancefloor kept me moving the whole night! The drive home to Kitchener was an energetic one for me even after 8 hours of dancing! : D thx to everyone who came out and ALL THE TA'S WHO LIVE AND BREATHE TRANCE!:tongue3 :tongue3

What an incredible way to start 2006. I've been reading the reviews from other places, and boy am I glad I chose Docks (although wasn't much of a choice, lol). Destiny always brings the best talent available. You guys are the absolute bomb.
We all got to the club super-early, and still waited for a bit in line because the doors didn't open right at 9pm like they were supposed to. Went into Tides right off the bat, but wasn't really feeling NuEra's set, so I waited till the Liberation Lounge opened and then ducked into there. You gotta love that room - plenty of space to sit and relax and talk to your friends without taking up valuable dance space. Some cute female DJ was throwing down some nice Breaks, and there were a couple of people on the dancefloor who really knew how to move well to Breaks. Mona knows what I'm talking about. Then Red Turtle came on, and I really wasn't feeling his set either, so it was time for me to check out the Main room. It was Jungle with an MC that would not shut up with his incessant blabber about "Ohhhh !" and the like for one goddamn minute, so it took me like half an hour to get sick of hearing that over and over. When will they ever get rid of those clowns. Thankfully, the night turned around after that.
Went back into Tides, and OS/2 was throwing down a solid set. I remember hearing:

Christopher Lawrence - Mind of Man
Agnelli & Nelson - Every Day, Every Moment, Every Time
Marco V - More Than a Life Away
Awesome tracks. This guy really impressed me with his set, so I now know what he's capable of for the future. Plus it was great dancing in the 19+ area - load of space and close to the bar, lol.
Then it was time for the New Year to be rung in. Personally, I was a little dissapointed - I thought they'd do something a little more special than balloons. Oh well. That wasn't really why I came there.
Then it was Deko-Ze's turn to do his thing in Tides. I've heard him play a Trance set before (can't remember when/where), so I was pleasantly surprised to hear him do another one. Then shortly after 12, I was dancing in the 19+ area, I look to my left, and see Bogdan and Marina up on the platform. I think I pretty much bolted to go meet em, which is a good thing, because as soon as I got there, there were getting down. Thank you guys so much for getting up there - I never would have found you otherwise probably. We all got to enjoy another sick set that kept me going the whole time the DJ was in the booth. If memory serves well, he dropped gems like:
Rachael Starr - Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden remix)
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel
Plus a couple more sick tracks that I've never heard before.
Beatfreakers were okay. I did hear that 'You Got Me' trackt hat m2j was talking about, and I gotta agree, that track rocks. I'm sure we'll be hearing it in the future though. At around 1:30 I realised I was draining my energy far too fast to last me the whole night, so I went back to sit down and give my legs a rest in Liberation Lounge. As it happened, I sat down on one of the couches right next to one of the speakers in the corner, as as I was chilling, I kept having cans and bottles fall on me. Getting a little pissed off at whoever it was who was knocking them off the speaker and on to me, I decided to watch watch the speaker for a bit. Turns out, the thing was vibrating so hard that it would topple-over the free standing bottles, and make the cans "float" over the edge of the speaker and onto me. :/ I think after 30 minutes of that heavy Breaks bass pulsating right into my right ear, I may have went a little deaf.
At exactly 2am, I was ready, front and centre, for Jelo. In a word, he was amazing. I didn't know one track that he dropped (well, except for that You Got Me track that i knew, sorta), and it didn't matter to me at all. He was throwing down some nice dark beats and I was loving every minute of it. Plus, the guy's energy behind the decks is absolutely outstanding. Funny moment of the set - seeing TOTA being up on the screens, and seeing beatjunkie's (Mona) posts, lol.
Shortly enough, 3:30am rolled around, and it was time for the duo that we all came to see to get started. What an absolutely incredible set did DuMonde pump out. Holy Vin Diesel. I loved how they threw in those classic Trance tracks that no one has heard in like forever into their set. All too often the DJs will only play what's popular at that moment. Not these guys, and I love them for it. And the crowd interaction was just superb. They literally had the crowd eating out of their hands - I remember at one point they just cut the music and literally made the crowd go insane with nothing more than their gestures. I haven't seen anybody else do that, EVER. No one has that control, that hold over the dancefloor. Armin just points, smiles, and looks cute like a trained monkey. And then they go and surprise everyone by playing an extended set till 6:30am! W00000T! Insanity! Never have I been happier about missing hearing a DJ spin. Yes, their set had a lot of slowdowns, but I actually loved every second of them this time around. First, it was late (errr... early) and I was quite tired by then, so they were a nice way to get some rest for my feet. Second, since the Docks staff was nice enough to overlook all the people sitting on the bar under the DJ booth, it was absolutely amazing to just sit there, relax, close your eyes and float away in the music. Truly euphoria at its best. I think those memories are permanently imprinted in my mind - I can just close my eyes, and it's like I'm still there. I can't ing wait to hear the recorded set. When they finished, as always, they came down to chat and take pics with their fans. I got to personally thank them for their set, something I've never even had an inkling to do for any other DJ. Awesome guys. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD AND HOLY, COME BACK SOON DUMONDE!!!!
By no means am I a good trainspotter, but these are some of the tracks even I was able to ID (and there's a lot I had on the tip of my tongue but just couldn't remember what they are - will be waiting impatiently for the recorded set for those):
PPK - Resurrection: Absolutely EPIC moment #1. I've never heard that track in a club before, and it was inderscribable how much I and the crowd ate that track up.

Delerium vs. Paul Van Dyk - Silence vs. For An Angel: Another EPIC moment of the night. . That insaaaaaaaaneeee!
Perpetuous Dreamer - Sound of Goodbye: Haven't heard this track in forever! OMG. I died.

DuMonde - God Music
DuMonde - Kalt (Talla 2XLC remix) (I think that's the right remix)
Other general stuff:
Coatcheck: Maybe it was because I arrived super early and left super late, but it wasn't that bad this time around.
Crowd: Awesome, no problems with anyone the whole night. Once again, ROFL @ u, All Ages haters.
Bouncers: As I mentioned before, thanks for being so cool about everything. And to the bartender who was selling Gatorade for $3.50 - you ing rock! Muchos gracias.
Dancefloor: I've grown to love how no matter the event, there's always space to dance at the Docks. It hasn't let me down this time around either. One of the perks of partying in the winter, is that though the trip from the car to the club and back is a cold bitch; inside the club it's always nice and cool, no matter how insane you're going.
TOTAS: The guys and gals who I regularly hit up these events with, you guys know who you are, and you don't need a special mention, you're special enough as it is. So I'll just run down through all the new faces I met that night: Dan, Josh, KKEFKA (I'm totally spacing on your first name, dude), Killah Monkey (yours as well), the Jelo promoter who sold me the Jelo CD that I tucked away into the back of my pants and luckily didn't lose (unlike someone I know, heh heh heh), some TA who's either real name or TA name starts with an F (yeah, okay, so my memory sucks), the 6'9" dude who I only later realised was actually djsketchbag, INTRANCE, and Monia (I've seen you at a few other events, and everytime I'd see you, without fail, you'd be dancing, hard. You're not the most vocal TA, but certainly one of the most energetic. Keep it up). I think that covers about all of you. Oh , wait, no - Sean, nice seeing you too; it's a wonder we both didn't fall asleep on that bus, lol.
P.S. Jesus, this was a long one.

Actually its DJ DeNiro - Mind Of Man (1998). Both Christopher and DeNiro produced tracks on Hook at the same time so you were close.

TRACK I.D. please
I just wanna know what track OS/2 dropped right at midnite in the TIdes room and a few minutes after...It was a sweet trance track....any help here would be appreciated ;)
And Cosmic Fur? that was Miss Michie spinning in the Liberation Lounge :) ...she's awesome and dropped some great beats that nite |
