Since you gave your hypothetical here's mine:
HYPOTHETICAL
You punch this guy because you are so "macho." He is more "macho" than you because you discover he is one of the juice monkeys that hangs out at Guv, which you were previously unaware of because he didn't have his shirt off yet due to being in the Drink. So he punches you back. His punch > your punch.
So now as your girlfriend, not only am I going to get kicked out of the club (thanks ), I'm going to have to deal with the embarrassment of my boyfriend getting beat up.
Once you've regained your sight in your left eye after 2 weeks (from the inevitable swelling/bruising) - now you can appreciate all your "macho" friends slapping your ass in the locker room or stripbar or wherever the hell you hang out for your awesome "machoness" that night 2 weeks ago at Guv. On the tradeoff you can deal with me who's super pissed they missed the rest of a set they wanted to hear. That guy can call me a whore and oh boy I can call you WAY worse. Not only that, have fun sleeping on the couch . |

(you dated his ex, fuct his sister/mother, beat up his brother etc) that you would think this is about you. but a guy who has never met you, pinchs your gfs cheeks and then calls her a whore (presumably b/c she was confused and displeased about the cheek pinch) is not directing it at you |

If a guy were to call me a whore...this is MY battle not my boyfriend's to protect me. Like Spitty said, my boyfriend should be asking ME if I'm alright...not trying to protect me by hitting the dude in the face. I can stand up for myself. Chances are I would just scowl at the guy and walk away...I'd be the bigger person. Why should I bother with such a jerk when I know that I'm better than him?
