suggestion noted. Personally, i don't like hearing popular tracks, i can do that at home, at work, in my car. I go to the club to hear new tracks.

the night was a perfect progression. dennis warmed up the crowd and got the energy moving, playing several tracks i had heard all day from Armin's State of Trance 221.. Tygon took that energy to the next level. i danced hard all night.. loving every bass drop and buildup.. needed glowsticks.. :)

I don't think Tim needs much .."advice"..to play more vocal tracks or commercial stuff. Every dj has their own sound. If Tim..or any other TA dj i personally know wanted to play more mainstream stuff... they'd be a Top40 dj.

Tim is a resident dj to a very large club outside TO.. VIVA ...which gets rammed to the every Fri. ....so he's obviously doing something right..and all those 100's... if not 1000's of people there seem to get it.

I personally.. do not play vocal tracks that much..nor Tiesto trax.

When I was at Rev. spinning...a million people came up to me asking me to play Tiesto.. it's natural. It's commercial and well known..but the majority of the trax...no one knew..and they were still dancing until they had to kick us out. I did however.. play AvB-Shivers... just to shut them up a bit.. but that was the only track anyone in there knew.

BTW.. Tim doesn't really play TRANCE.. so I wouldn't go there expecting him to play Trance. He plays mainly TECHNO. So I guess you guys aren't big Techno fans then. Oh well...can't please everyone.
:toocool:

.. oh yeah! welcome to TA :D

AMEN. this n00b has to be a troll... Cale did you make a new name?

guys dont worry. just let these people say what they want, it. hopefully they will open up their mind to different types of EDM someday and learn to have FUN, and whining! *whine whine* open your mind and in have fun!
that being said....

The night was awesome as always! dennis started off the night with some banging tracks, got me into it right from the beginning. I brang my friend and his gf, their first time at a place like that, and they loved it! tim, you killed it as always man. so many times i'd look around, and everyone was going nuts! so wicked!

I have to leave for work in 5minutes lol. I got 2 hours sleep, YESSS! :D lol!

until next time people :)

Glad everyone seemed to have a good time last night! Sorry I had to leave early, I really didn't want to but I had to be back in Toronto to leave now for a work trip up North...

Again, amazing TA turnout... my night starts when you guys get there I swear... took me a while to get in the mood last night but eventually I did because of you guys and your energy. TA's are starting to bring other people out to this well kept secret and that's great because we need to build the scene!

In response to the debate going on here I do want to make a comment. We are definately talking about taste in music here and not skill because anyone that knows anything about the technical side of djing knows that Tygon is as good as they come.

Here's the thing though... if you want to make it as a dj you MUST find your own sound. Playing commercial and recognizable tracks may bring a few more people to your little side room that don't know anything about EDM- but they won't make it a point to remember you anyway and playing this type of music won't get you respect among industry insiders. You need to be creative and original. I'm lucky because my sound seems to be embraced by EDM purists and folks that like the more recogizable stuff as well because it appeals to both... I don't water it down and I can still play with an edge. But the truth is, Tiesto and Dumonde (fantastic guys as they are) haven't released anything good in well over a year... if they did and it fit my sound, absolutely I'd play them. But they haven't done anything and I'm not going to play Tiesto-Traffic because it'll appease the 20 or so Tiesto worshippers in there that haven't bothered to realize there are lots of better artsists out there anyway.

Anyways, glad you all had fun, thanks for your continued support and we'll see you all on the 20th with Kevin Turner!

He's a l'il pecker...but he's spot on...:p :)

It's a DJs duty to educate as well...I wanna hear new , not stuff I can play myself at home :toocool:

Welcome to the board. :)
TranceGrooves
w0w ... lolz

Tim u dirty old man ... No Tiesto ??||?? w0ts wrong with you??

To the fellas who didnt enjoy Tim's set ... welcome to TA :)
Guys let me ask you something since you have been into the music for a time and for sure know a thing or two.
When you go to a club do you really expect to hear the same 5 or 6 popular songs that are on repeat on your computer at home ? Do you find great deal of pleasure in listening to the same track 5 times a day, may it be in a club or anywhere else? If a dj didnt play a single track that you know of doesnt mean he didnt play good or his set was . I was not there last night so i wont comment much but i tell you one thing. I can still name atleast 5 tracks Tim did play :) Just because you fellas did not get to hear Traffic and Z103.5 hyped doesnt mean the Dj sucked. Whats popular to you and whats popular to me or Tim or Dennis or the rest of the people there are 2 different things.

I respect you for having your opinion about music and liking and disliking certain style but please be tactful as to how you word yourself. Majority of the Djs that play Purple Room work their balls off to get where they are. Dennis and Tim being 2 of them. By the way hows your Djing going ? :)

The reason he was so bad is because he played no dumonde, tiesto, armin or any other dj's when ivan asked him if he had tiesto he said no......how do u not have tiesto~!? He had no vocal music.....all beats thats it for 3 hours.

Aww now, don't be bitter because I literally laughed out loud at the request for Tiesto - Traffic. You have to understand that Dennis and I get about 5 requests each for Tiesto every night by mainstream, commercialized n00bs that think he's the be-all-and-end-all of electronic music. Requests for Tiesto have actually become an inside joke on TA, so I just found it really funny when you guys asked. Anyways, I'm sorry to disappoint you by playing only new tracks last night, but I find it more valuable to stay true to myself and my style as a dj by playing quality tracks, rather than playing old cheese to please the tiny minority of people that would be pissed off at a DJ cuz they don't carry Tiesto. Believe me, though... Tiesto and AVB are bangin out many of the same tracks I played last night. Maybe you didn't recognize any of them because they were released within the last 2 months rather than the last 2+ years......

Anyways, with that out of the way... what can I say... I haven't seen the Purple Room go that CRAZY in a LOOONNNNG time. There were many firsts for me last night: First time being raped and molested behind the decks by hot chicks... First time having to get down from behind the decks to break up a fight... First time seeing someone strip down to their bare ass while dancing on the speaker... It was just an incredible night from the time I got there!

Dennis always plays a solid set. He's probably the most technically sound DJs I know with a fantastic track selection and a wicked presence behind the decks. One of the most underrated DJs in Southern Ontario, if not Canada. It's always a pleasure playing these nights with him.

As for me... from the looks of things, everyone (but 2) were having an awesome time! It's really been a while since I've seen the Purple Room blow up like that so many times! Lots of hands in the air! Lots of smiling faces! Lots of sweaty dancin'! Lots of hot chicks! Wow... what a great night. This was certainly a birthday set I'll remember for a while!

I'll post some pics shortly! :D

I didn't bother PM'ing for guestlist. Big Mistake :whip:

We went next door to the Dog and tried to get in just after 1 and the lineup for thuganomics was still rediculous!

Sounds like Dennis and Tim tore it up as usual. I'll be there on the 20th!

bahahaha wtf!! - This never happens when I'm there!

Congrats guys, sounds like it was an awesome night as usual.

lol @ the request for Traffic! hahaha clearly you have not seen Tim or Dennis together before dude! Whoa Tiesto was in July! I think the day I hear a Tiesto track in the Purple Room is the day I'll stop going. :p Thanks for the laugh before work, lol.
