| If you are limited from downloading torrents at a high-speed. Switch your port to 1720, this is a "voip" port that cannot be limited. |

Just go to "prefs" and enter in the port number.
I just made the changes and now it went from 3 - 70. It's no 680 like I had in the summer but at least it's something. |

Its not as simple as that. YOu also have to open those ports on your router, otherwise the change is no good. |

a quick tour of torrents by me :)
first off if you are using anything but azureus and / or utorrent delete it and get one of those 2 clients properly updated. Why? well for a simple reason. Bitcoment and bitspirit and other clients of that sort do not have a private flag in their clients. this allows peers to connect from trackerless sites and that is a security concern for alot of other torrent sites that use the private flag. Azureus and U torrent have the private flag in their client and is highly recommended by majority of torrent sites.
now as for speeds ummm i personally do not think Rogers has anything to do with this but then again i could be wrong. i have been with them for a year and i have no issues what so ever using my torrents and my speeds are generally good even at peak hours. i normally get 95 to 125KB/s on a torrent that is seeded 20 or more. i use azuresus and am on a router. as Orko said if you guys are on a router please make sure your ports are forwarded from the router as well. that way the tracker sees open ports and when you are leeching its a open connection. forwardng ports from the router and having open ports on your computer without the router is something i can compare to having green lights all the way through downtown toronto traffic at 5pm :)
another couple of things to comment on regarding speeds. first off limit your upload speed. it does have effect on your download speed. try to grab torrents that are well seeded. limit the number of simultaneous connections and simultaneous uploads. those 2 are not that same :) and all of those options can be found in tools of your torrent client.
for port forwading please see here

i left alot of the technical out but if you do not understand anything then just try to google general torrent help or drop me a line and i be happy to help u in any way i can. although keep in mind my help is limited to Azureus client ONLY :D. |
