| Actually, pizza as we know it today had been discovered by a mere accident as a lady named Mina Jurovustuv(Russian) from the 18th century, spilled tomatoes onto her cooking dough while she was baking it. It melted slightly into the dough and reportedly she took a bite as it actually smelled good. From then on she began cooking all her meals like that eventually adding ingredients to make it taste better. The words Pizza comes from pizalo mintov which actually means dough and sauce. While travelling in Italy though she married an italian scientist who happened to love her new creation and then began to produce it in Italy. They changed the name to just pizza where everyone understood it to just be Italian more than anything else. The style of cooking remained in Italy for several years until finally it caught on in other places and more cooks started to do it. |

No, Marco Polo almost certainly brought the idea to Italy from his infamous travels to China. Whether or not he was an honorary emissary for Kublai Khan is, another matter |
