No, its not actually about butter...
My friends and co-workers are always telling me that i am full of useless yet interesting information.. so i thought i would start a thread that basically is full of conversation starters...
so post those lil' tidbits of info you have found out over the years and share the knowledge!
1) Dolphins are the only other known mammal ( besides humans) that have sex for pleasure out of mating season
2) there are some breeds of duck that mate for life, and if their mate dies the duck will die of starvation caused by lonliness and depression
3) After the tsunami, a small baby hippo was washed away from its mother ( who was later found dead) the first animal the baby hippo came into contact with was a 60-70 year old tortoise who adopted the hippo as a child.. the two are now inseperable...

Alot of birds in general are like that. They pick a mate for life. I've been reading up on Cockatoos (as I plan to get one in the near future) and once they pick a 'mate' out of the household, you'll be lucky if they dont try and bite everyone else. |

this is not correct. Many of the upper primates including chimpanzies, gorillas, and orangatanges (sp?) enage in sex acts for pleasure including masterbation, oral sex, and homosexual acts. |
