| I never give any of them a damn thing. If they weren't wasting their time walking around asking people for money, maybe they could find a way to make money for themselves. |

One time this homeless guy asked for some money to get a coffee...so I gave him $5 and a joint. That was probably a bad idea, $5 won't really buy a lot of snacks when he gets hungry.
So sad :( |
i did something similar once. i was heading to space 2 conferences ago for pvd i believe. this bum comes up to me and some friends as we're walking like a block away from space and asks us for change. since i'm heading to space i only have 20s. :( so i tell him na i dont have anything i can spare. so we walk past him, then i go and get a cig out of my pocket and notice i still had a joint there that i didnt want to bring into space. so i go back give the guy the joint and say "sorry i dont have any cash, but here take this" and hes like "wtf bro? you dont got an xanex?" i was like nope and walked away. :sadgreen:
in retrospect, i wasnt searched and should of brought of that joint in with me. :( |

i never give money to them. they're a bunch of s that all over the sidewalk. you literally can't walk around without watching where you step. especially since skid row is a few blocks away. the most i'll give them is a broken pallet that i can't use.
also, a good pallet is worth ~$3.25, it goes down from there... |

get a job you ing bums. every homeless guy that asks me for money is sat there enjoying a couple of beers and smoking a spliff... just yesterday some chavvar twat came into KFC and asked us if we could spare a few quid to get him and his family a meal because they had no money and needed food! what the , if you're that ing skint then go buy a loaf of ing bread for 13p from asda not a KFC. To make matters even funnier, he was soo aggressive and twattish about it! "OIY MUSH GIS SUM MUNEH DIK-ED COZ ME N MISSIS GET FUKIN KFC INIT AInT GOH NO DOSH LOIKE, COFF UP BOIS."
sort it out you ing absolute bellend. |

but are the homeless that way because they are genuinely bums or are they the result of a society gone wrong and not investing enough to ensure that people are kept off the streets? the distribution of wealth in many countries is not directly in proportion to the amount of effort a person may apply in life nor does it correspond to how much a person deserves. the rich get rich, and the poor get poorer.
dino, jokes aside. the situation in India (kids begging on the streets) is a prime example of this. same in thailand. in many cases they don't know any better.
i'm not in favour of handing somebody cash, but moreso at looking at how that cash can help them. I remember somebody mentioning once that instead of giving cash they carried an apple with them and handed the beggar the apple instead. If the beggar did not accept the gesture, then that said something about them and giving them cash probably wouldn't be a good idea. |

if a tramp politely asked me if i had any spare change, and wasnt just sat their getting drunk and smoking weed, then i would happily give him something and trust that he might actually use it for the good of himself. but trust me, thats quite rare where i live. |

There was a guy in my hometown who was acutally a millionaire, had a huge mansion, but chose to live on the streets.
A friend of mine usually goes and gets them a cup of tea and talks to them. I admire him for that.
I think the robots idea in NYC is a good 'un!
But alot of people have said, those drinking alochol or smoking I stay well clear of. |
