Hi,

Im looking to get some new headphones since i can't buy monitors as i live with my parents and they complain about sound volume so ive decided to invest in a decent pair of monitoring headphones, ive checked these 1's out but has anybody else have these? @ 200 pound a pair i think they should be good quality.

Thanks
aquila
I don't recall ever hearing a complaint about the HD650's. They're good for monitoring but if you decide to get serious with your music you need to use something better than headphones.

But seriously, if your parents complain about your noise it's time to move out ;)

Haha, not this lame discussion again.

The only people who are serious enough with their music to need something better than headphones are the people who are doing it for a living and making pantloads of money off of it.

Hi there...no you don't have to move out. There are other places where using monitors wouldn't be a good idea either, like in apartments with picky neighbors or with roomates that have sensative ears. I have heard great things about the 650's. However, I would recomend a pair of headphones I've become very happy with. You can hear everything that you normally wouldn't notice in other studio headphones. They are also even cheaper then the Sennheisers too. Check out the AGK k240's. The only draw backs are they are kinda goofy looking but are really confortable, and you would need a mixer so you could raise the volume in them as they could be louder. Other then that, AGK for the win.

the 650's are excellent headphones dont hesitate with the purchase. You may run into some problems early on. But if you listen to enough of your favorite tracks in them you will be able to understand how you can translate them to a good club mix.

You can save a bundle of money if you just get the HD 580's. The difference is not even noticable in all the audiophile reviews.

Oh yes it is. There's not that much difference between the 600 and 650, but there is a major breakpoint between the 600s and the lower models.

Audiophile reviews may not point out the difference, but I know *several* producers who can hear the difference.

Sennheiser for me are the ultimate cans.

I use HD202s and I swear by 'em. My studio monitors are another matter. But in the same vein, this argument can be about monitors just as it can be about cans.

Many DJ types will tell you otherwise, Pioneer and Sony are the DJ choice but you wouldn't or shouldn't be in the production studio if you wanted a DJ perspective. DJ cans are different from studio cans. Think about it.

Sennheiser cans are for me the best.

They may not be the best for all I agree, but what really matters is how your ears go.

Your ears are sensitive (very sensitive) and what suits my ears may not suit yours.

Try as many different cans as you can and make up your own ears.

Quality is one thing and price is another but it's how you listen that is unique.

Get cans that suit your ears not cans that suit the majority vote of people on a forum.

I never ask other people what they think is best when it comes to how I should perceive a product, especially when it comes to music. A majority vote is not always the best for an individual.

Addition to my previos post, headphone montiroing is just as important as having a huge PA setup which can blast walls from your house.

Call me a liar, I dare you.
