| no offense but how many threads like this do we need? We get it. But what are we going to do about it? You know what's keeping them around? It's that people actually like and want them around. |

I'm not sure I can agree with that. My understanding of the US electoral system is that you don't HAVE to vote, so the reason all the religious right wing get elected is because they campaign to get their supporters to vote, and vote for them.
Meanwhile those that don't support them can't be assed to vote.
Is that correct assumption?
That's why their was a campaign to get people to vote last election.
in Australia everyone MUST vote (18yrs+),but the govt still sucks.
I find it hard to understand how someone who passes on the vote, can protest about decissions made by their govt.
If the people vote, then the election results speak.

i don't see how the fact I support gay marriage for those who want it mean I have no Morals. And as for a man marrying a dog... what tha! |

| Please, please don't mix up Bush and the rest of the neo-cons with true conservatives. I think this transfer in ideologies has perhaps been the most alarming thing I have witnessed in American politics in my life. |

He is correct. I still do not believe in the Conservative idealogy, but Bush is not Conservative, nor anything for that matter. Just a monkey idiot.
As for the topic "US Conservatives are now trying to influence other countries", Canada will soon be a prime example of that. Conservatives will win the election this month, and Steve Harper will go get rear-ended by the Bush administration. Canada will soon be U.S.A. Jr. |
