Here he is.
sensorium
No offense or anything but running with a ball in your hands is much easier than running and kickng the ball. Two different games.

There is no point in discussing this.
nchs09
not only that, he is comparing 1 man being faster than anyone who plays futbol which is the most played sport in the world...

yet noone is faster than him? haha

Try throwing and catching. Or better yet...using your HANDS. All while guys are trying to take your head off.
You both lose this argument. There's plenty of fast guys like Vick. It's just that Vick is a quarterback who has a cannon for an arm too. Do i need to explain what a quarterback is?
Football players don't stand around like soccer players when the ball isn't near them.

Michael Vick

and Lebron James

..grew up with an interest in soccer, and not football or basketball.

They in particular probably wouldn't go anywhere since exceptional physical skills don't make the difference by themselves on top level professional football. Exceptional physical skills with slightly above average technical skills can cut it tho.

I do see your general point of view, and kinda agree with it, if the whole USA was as interested in football as say England or Spain, their national team could be one of the big ones. But population by itself doesn't directly mean a great team, Russia is huge as well and more interested in football than the US but didn't qualify!

Yes handling is a skill. But that defeats you in your previous argument that those physical monsters would be great footballers. Handling is only useful in football for goalkeepers. And for that position strenght and speed are pretty much worth nothing (agility, jumping and reflexes are everything)

Again true, but that does not imply american "football" is "better" than football. It's a question of focus on physics vs focus on technique.

You would know this how? You've played keeper? I am a keeper and keepers need to be in better shape than anyone else on their team. I have been told this over and over again by college coaches and trainers. Everyone always says goalkeepers are lazy and that they never have to do anything. We need speed to get to the ball before the forwards if we are slower than them they''ll score. Same with strength. Try diving from far post to near post, taking the ball out of the air, and not letting go. Not as easy as you think it is.
