i do psyc, and we had a lecture on weed. My lecturer thought most of the negative views on weed was due to propaganda by americans after the war. Statistically the only harmful effect that can be proven is increase in chance's of lung cancer. However alot of guys i know are very edgy, paranoid and messed up from smoking regularly. |
i know your lecturer has worked very hard to get where he is, but on this particular issue, his views are way skewed...
propaganda by americans after the war????
views typically displayed by a stoner who has actually amounted to something, who is trying to get societys correct views on this subject out of his own guilt ridden mind |

I don’t get it and I will never get it. The only effects I’ve ever felt from it have been a feeling of slowness and stupidity with almost zilch thought process capability. It’s a complete and utter dumbing down of the mind drug and I will never ever understand why people get so heavily into it. Why would anyone not want to be able to hold a conversation without feeling like a retarded 3 year old? More fun are the people who think they have profound thoughts when they’re on it. They have no idea how completely moronic they sound trying to explain a thought or concept that ‘came to them’ when stoned.
I’ve seen in an ex, and now I’ve seen in my best friend, just how addictive (let’s call it addiction for want of a better word) it can be for certain people. Those who are inclined to become addicted to it seem to lose all ambition and motivation they ever had no matter how much they had going for them before they took it up. No interest in pushing through with uni when it gets hard, don’t care they can’t hold a job (hey, they weren’t fired, they just couldn’t be bothered going to a job they didn’t adore, so what does it matter right?)
The funniest thing (in a depressing sort of way) is how people who are heavy smokers justify their use. ie weed helps
- relax you
- get you high and make you laugh
- help you sleep
- kick in pills
- bring you down after a big night
- relieve boredom
- relieve depression
- settle an upset stomach (reports are it’s particularly good for stomach ulcers. Uh huh)
- good in social situations
OMG!! It’s a miracle drug!! It has the ability to do not only an ‘a’ list of brilliant things, but a completely contrary ‘b’ list as well!!
Yeah right
It’s a horrible drug that can wreck some people lives, maybe not forever because I know people can get off it and do really well in life, but serioulsy, what a waste of years in the meantime… |

the funniest part is the fact that the Relaxing, Helping you sleep, relieving depression, good in social situations aspect that the drug 'cures' werent even problems to be begin with until weed smoking was begun
 |

ummmm soups i may have misunderstood you but marijuana has been in use for a very long time. hemp was used commonly in society for rope and clothing as well up until the 19th century so it is not as if weed has just recently been introduced. the problem is that now with hydroponic and stimulated growth marijuana is now far stronger than it ever was grown naturally.

its virtually the only reason i developed the habit i did. since theres so few new magic tunes being produced, you can always fall back on those ones youve heard 1000 times and still get goosebumps when youre offa ;)
anywayz, 7 days of sobriety and not even missing it. quitting that and the smokes, i feel as though im in control once again :)
in terms of all the negative side effects, i dont see the big deal. people have just got to be sensible and have some self control. i love how everyone's touting the mental health risks and psychosis problems recently. i dont have a friend that hasnt experimented a tad. no adverse reactions here. as per usual things getting blown out of proportion when drugs are discussed. |
