When it's snowing, I generally notice that *everyone* slows down, except for the idiots who insist on blasting by at 120 anyway.

i said it wouldnt help in snow but it would help in crystal clear weather when people go that slow.

and i generally notice that the road could be well salted while snowing and pracically bare except for water and most people would still be going slow even though the conditions on the road are just wet not icy.

Just came back from an errand and it's snowing outside. I bet not even an inch has fallen and already:

a) people are going 50 on the highway
b) people are braking every 10 seconds for no reason
c) people are disregarding that the passing lane is for passing

Are we talking about when it's snowing or when it's not?

Did anyone see that commentary on CBC, I think it was, were this Finnish guy, who moved to Canada, was making a laugh about how we don't prepare for winter lol

He said something like this: "what are these all season tires? in winter it isn't all season it's winter!" lol classic

"all season tires" ... translation "im a lazy bastard"

Using all-season tires makes about as much sense as wearing a spring/autumn jacket year-round. You're cold in the winter and hot in the summer, but it sure beats changing jackets.

Its one thing to drive with the conditions. Its another to over react and cause problems for everyone else.

People dont realize that slow drivers are many times MORE dangerous than fast ones. If i were in charge of this province id create minimum speed limits with a sign underneath that said "conditions permitting"

That may not solve bull winter drivers but that would certianly solve the issue of people going 60-80 on the freeway in crystal clear light to moderate traffic conditions! Even if they are in the right lane these idiots shouldnt be on the freeway

exactly man, people driving too slowly force regular traffic to swerve and pass by right, which can create confusion and it doesn't take much to generate accidents.

there must be a minimum speeding law Jayx, i'm sure its 60.

there's a yes and no to this issue.

in perfect conditions on the highway with little traffic, i'll do 140k/h no prob on the qew, cause i feel safe to do so (with hardcore eyes on mirrors for cops of course)...but on some pretty awful days, i've had no problem doing 80k/h when the pace seemed maybe a bit faster at like 85-90k/h (and some ppl doing 100-120k/h which to me felt like serious idiot, cause one mistake and they're done) because i seriously felt it was unsafe to do so, and i go based on my own intinct going 10k faster is not worth the aggravation of an accident.

i've been driving for 3 years now, and accident and ticket (which is really lucky) free

although to the agreeing side, drivers who break for no reason really piss me off too. and of course, if the drivers speed is just to rediculously slow, thats an accident causer in itself.

biggest pet peeve: ppl who break way harder then necessary without checking their mirrors, so badly that you dont'even need to be tail gating the person to be in a rough situation

The main thing is to drive safe, the real danger is the ppl who DON'T take the weather into considration.

when the streets turned to all ice two days ago, holy crap, everyone didnt know what to do. for sure you had to drive extra slow, because you cant tell where the ice is. so i'm driving down this hill in a residental area, this guy hits his brakes, starts sliding. theres a curve in the road, but he keeps going straight cause he cant turn, smacks the retaining wall for some hill, bounces off, and ends up half on some guys lawn lol! then the other cars behind him trying to pump their brakes to stop. ice is obviously alot different than snow, but still. you HAVE to drive slow for that, and it was freezing rain with streets ice all over the place, so come on, THINK people! I saw like 3 crashes, and i was just making 2 deliverys for work, which took like 25minutes.
