This link here - http://www.extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp will calculate ur PC wattage consumption. Every rating is for the components max rating, and ur PC wont be using all its components at max rating, but if u use the max it means u wont have a PSU thats weaker than what ur PC needs.
I calculated ur PC between the 300 - 350 mark. Which, if u agree to that, u need a PSU in around the 400 mark. I also dont believe that Super Flower is a quality model, but id have to check that.
My PC draws around 278W according to that link, and i have an Antec True Power 480W, which is a top quality PSU. Mainly for 2 reasons, future room for upgrades or to even reuse in a new PC, but mainly the unwritten rule is u give ur PSU alot of headway between what ur PC draws and its max capability.
See what u get.. |
i got 268, and thats including the frontbay lcd/fan controller which isnt hooked up atm.... .so 320 should in theory do... but ive been thinking of getting a new one anyways, cus its kinda noisy, and i want more in my computer... |

This forum here is excellent, and aslong as you are polite, the memebers there will help you no end with any questions for this or your PSU.
But if u want to expand that PC, or get a new one, that PSU wont cut it.
U have tried a fresh install of windows to make sure MS isnt at fault? |

u could (if u had about 10 gig to spare) make a new partition and install XP again on a dual boot and see how stable it is, then just format it and merge the free space back into your existing partition...? |

Coup sounds like he is right on, do the windows reinstall first to see if thats the issue, but then think about a new power supply. Im running the same model PSU as Coup but the 550watt model after I had a 350 and a fourth hard drive ended up causing my PSU to spike and fry the mobo and I think also the RAM.
Also if you have SMART enabled hard drives then get some software to check to see if they are reporting anything odd.
In your BIOS set quick post to off to force your bios to do a in depth scan of your ram when it boots too, just to make sure its ok. |
well, i kinda know theyre working cus im running CPUCool, and it says 600 mb RAM available...
EDIT: OMG NOU AND COUP AGREES ON SOMETHING!! |

well, come to think of it, it reacts the very same way it does when a fuse pops or the power goes, eg. i have to turn off the powerbutton. pull out the chord, plug in again, turn on button, before i can push the power button in front...
so what i am looking at now is;
Tagan i-Xeye 420W
Thermaltake Silent Purepower 460W
Tagan Easycon 430W
anybody have any comments on these psu's? |

| Switch up the ram chips so that only one of the 512s are in there. See if the problem goes away. I have found that most people that have computer restart problems have bad ram. The power-supply is also an option but before you go out and buy a new one play with the ram. |

that's a funy suggestion, almost as close to a suggestion of playing the beat to the song 'Southern Sun' with the ALT-CTRL-DELETE keys. :wtf: |
