Whatever I would rather have a driver who is "distacted" by the stick shift than talking on a cell phone, doing makeup, eating etc....If anything, I would hope that the need to shift discourages drivers from doing other distracting activities....Just about a month and a half ago I went from an auto to a manual and I think that I am a more careful driver now
Distraction my ass, thats like saying that steering is a distraction.
Since when is DRIVING THE ING CAR a distraction.
id beat his ass with a ing manual shift knob.
maybe if more people drove stick less would talk on their cellphone. |

Highly doubt it.
You don't need to keep your hands on the stick at all times. Multi-tasking FTW. |

that entire article seemed like he was talking out of his ass
i only learned to drive stick a few months ago. i learned in a 99 chevy prizm, a car with no tachometer. and honestly, who, after actually learning to drive stick, needs a tachometer or complete silence to shift well?
lol that article pissed me off more than it should've :p |

| People who don't know how to use stick shouldn't even be driving. |

| The first couple of times you drive with a stick, you do tend to focus more on shifting than on your surroundings. However once you master it, it becomes second nature. I drive a stick and I don't even think about shifting; I just do it. |

| lol, its funny how diluted and clueless some people can be. You would think writing outlets would try to not let those people write for them, oh well. |

hell no it's not a distraction. if anything, it makes the driver pay more attention to the road.
anybody that drives a standard knows how it becomes second-nature and that if anything, i think it makes people safer drivers. |

| i dunno about safer drivers, but it is no impedance on normal driving. |
