Best band of our generation.
Following up arguably one of the greatest albums of all time (OK Computer) with something as random and diverse as Kid A takes guts. And that's what music needs, and sorely lacks these days. GUTS.
I admit they're a bit depressing, but the sombre nature of most of their tracks actually comes across as genuine and well expressed. Puts emo e to shame.
Each and every one of their albums is amazing. 'Pablo Honey' is undoubtedly the weakest, but compared to most albums of its nature it's still pretty far ahead. 'Hail To The Thief' takes flak too, but considering the series of unbelievable albums it had to follow, I really don't think it was too bad.
Who can actually criticise Radiohead in terms of musical merit? They're depressing, perhaps a bit whiney at times and certainly not everyone's cup of tea. But anyone who denies they are talented, original and at least ONE of the best bands of the 90s is completely deluded. |

Yar, funneh all the emo kids I know love radiohead... :p |
That's strange, none of the emo kids I know like Radiohead (supposedly because the tracks aren't all about ex-girlfriends and self-harm.)
Most of them call it "boring". Remember that emo music is generally post-hardcore, punk-style music, so they'll like it a lot faster and more in-your-face, from which Radiohead couldn't be more different. |

No, because 'real' emos surely listen to emo music. As I already explained, emo music by definition is harcore punk music. Radiohead is not this in any sense; it is quite possibly a complete opposite.
People on this forum seem to think 'emo' is an attitude of being depressed. It really isn't, it's a musical genre. If someone is depressed and listens to Radiohead and cuts themself doing so, that doesn't make them emo.
A "true" emo is someone who listens to emo music, and Radiohead is not emo music. Therefore I can only assume that the "posers" you speak of would be Radiohead fans, because they're pretending to be emo while actually listening to music that isn't emo. |
