I asked for ideas that eliminate using sheets of paper with the information. I might try using CD labels. |
If you want to use lable,s I think you could try nero, It seems to me that they have a cd text editor, so you can print lables over the cd's.
I really don't knwo how it works, so I can't help you that much in there, it just seems to me that it can do what you are interested in. |

| I just put 4-8 tracks on a cd and I buy so much that I don't REALLY have to have two tracks mixed together. If so then I'll just duplicate....but when I shop I usually get a clump of tracks that are not compatible. |

im burning a new round of cds.
right now i have them alphabetically (still use keymixing though), it's easier to find a track that might pop into your head
i might consider switiching to organizing by keys and alphabetically within that. |

some very good ideas there!
for those of you who organize their cds by artist, harmonics or whatever...i see a problem there because you always have to wait until you have bought a cd full with artists or harmonics of the same kind!
i think it's a problem if you bought 1 special track and want to bang it out tonight! :)

Nah, you don't have to follow any method as if it were dogma. If you want to burn a random new track by itself, why the hell not? CDR's are cheap! If you only get 3 hot new breaks tracks in your order, go ahead and put 'em together, it's not a big deal.

I burn 9 tracks a cd, all very differents, to be sure I won't mix them together. |
And then your tracks are completely unorganized and hard to find. |

I do it like St. Michael, except, I number the CD's. I have a 200CD case that I'm only 1/4 full. Each CD, I burn two identical copies, and one spare. I make a tracklist card from notecards that I have pre-cut to fit right in the case. The tracklist gets numbered the same as the CD. Also, I tend to remember tracks based on when I bought them, so the continous numbering works good.
This is good cause I can put alot of tracks on one CD, and still always have the tracklist down there so I know what I have in the CDJ.
Anyone seen Digweed's CD case??! A mess of sharpie scribbled CD's :wtf: |

I've never seen his case but that is how mine looks. I'd rather have the CD labeled with a sharpie than have to printout sheets. That way you know if you have the CD with you then you definitely have the track info with you because it is permanently attatched to the CD. No ifs, ands, or buts... |

If you have pirntout sheets, you know whats inside the Cdj, if you get only the cd labeled, you have to guess what's inside the Cdj. |

I think by date it's good for recent tunes, but after they are a few months old, then I tend to forget exactly wich month it was burned, so I would prefer to reburned the "recent" stuff after a few months. |
