| Trance has its little place for me. I do alot of driving. Like from Wisconsin to Biloxi Mississippi that I have done alot and alone at 17 hrs one way. 3 min songs of pop radio dont cut it for me. Driving through Arkansas can be very annoying. A live Teisto 1hr rif does me justice right about then. I prefer club type Techno. |

| I was (falsely) diagnosed with ADD about 4 years ago, they put me on teh Riddelin, but that wasnt strong enought to "cure" me er w/e, so then i got on teh ADDerall like multiple grams per day. I was ed up 16hrs a day for about three years. Coincidentally thats when I found trance and litterally fell into it. Now im off those drugs and I still like it! |

This comment should be saved for the music discussion where it will actually be seen and commented on, for I fear posting it hear will just iniate the downward pull of most threads and posts in the C0r.
anyways, i've always thought about this and wanted to start a discussion on it, maybe I will someday, but i'll just make an outline of it here:
I'm always amazed at the eclectic tastes that most members on TA have. We all, as a collective whole, have such a vast knowledge and affinity for all things music. When threads, both here in the COR and in MD, start with BEST NON-EDM ALBUM, or FAVORITE PUNK SONG, or FAVORITE SOUNDTRACK, etc... i know I'm going to get extremely reliable and brilliant answers.
We, at TA know our music and we delve into other genres with a passion. And I think it's this one inherent difference that makes us TAs a different breed. The ability to open up our ears to other sounds, albeit not EDM or Trance-related. Most of us grew up listening to what our parents listened to, Oldies, classic rock and we listened to songs on the radio. I'm sure each of us has a little special place for non-edm songs (80's new wave, grunge, radiohead, Sam Sham and The Pharoahs, etc)
And then we found trance and loved it, and yes some of us have moved on to acid, breakbeat, drum n bass, prog or what have you. But I think it's great that we are able to enjoy and venture outside the box so to speak. Take any other forum, forums for indie music or Linkin Park or rap or hip-hop. Do you think members there talk about Trance? James Holden? Cat Power? Jon Spencer Blues Explosion? Slum Village?
maybe, I like to think that Trance is the catalyst for opening up people's ears to music. No matter what the genre (classical, polka, r&B, heavy metal, soft-rock, or Journey), there's a TA on here for it. |

the only reason why I listen to trance is....
If I am having a bad day this brings me up when i hear a good tune. When I don't hear trance for more than 3 days and I hear it, I am like dag how the hell will I ever hate this music. Before I had a GF I love trance and now I have a GF I listen to trance and when I get older I will listen to trance. I will never just stop listening, just stop going to clubs. My car rides home from work rock because of trance. Trance is the best!!! Well to me;)
breaks also! |

My story:
High school: Only listened to rap music, was with the wrong crowds. I think I just didn't know what I liked.
College: Started listening to a lot of 80s music from my childhood and really got into Depeche Mode/New Order/etc. Proceeded to download my first trance albums. Music gave me chills listening to it. Got more into live mixes like Oakey @ Space 2000, and Tiesto Live @ Energy and was hooked from there. Still remember first time i heard Chicane Saltwater!
I still like it now but I'm more picky what I listen to and I have branched into pretty much every genre, little house, DnB, Breakz, chill, and more into Latin music now. I still like trance because great to dance to, makes the drive to work fun, and because why not? |

WHY DO i LIKE tRANCE?
Well!
For one thing it rhymes with pants. Anything that rhymes with pants is cool in my book. Except for france, because I hate eskimos.
I also like trance because it is similar to heavy metal. Anything with grunting distorted electric guitars is cool in my book. Actually everything that that has electricity going through gets my tick of approval!
But the best thing about trance is the "trance-out". or better known as "trancing-out". Anything that goes out is cool in my book. Exiting ftw! |
