I don't care who wins, as long as the Seahawks beat the spread :)

They defeated the Bengals, Colts and Broncos and have the momentum on their side.

of course, any team can lose momentum when they have a break for TWO WEEKS. Why the hell does the NFL do that anyway?

but yeah, I have a feeling the Steelers will win. It's kinda funny how the Superbowls used to be all blowouts, but the recent ones have been close and exciting, or have had some kind of "feel good" story...like this year and Jerome Bettis for example. I'm not suggesting conspiracy or anything...:D

seriously though, the Seahawks have gotten no respect from anyone, especially that one gay ESPN.com editor. Steelers, a #6 seed. How in the did they end up in the superbowl anyways? What happened to the Colts?

Anyways...the Hawks have a complete team. And you will see, after they win the superbowl, people will again be coming up with excuses, ah the Steelers were hurt, injured, tired (they didnt have two weeks off;)) and other bs... We've heard it all before.

All i gotta say is that i'm getting ready to watch the Superbowl, and heading out to REI to buy that rain parka to prepare for the big parade that will take place in rain Downtown Seattle the following Tuesday.

PS. Alexander will rush for another 100+ yards, and score 2+ TD's against the steelers. And bettis is old, but he will retire losing the superbowl.

So the Steelers are #6 so what ?

Wigan beat Arsenal in the league cup and Wigan wasn't the favourite. I will try to catch the superbowl match if theres nothing on soccer channel

At work I decided against doing the bets on winners. Instead i'll be doing a block pool, where I'll be paying attention more to the scores of each team and hoping my numbers come out.

$2,000 dollar payout each quarter for the big-block playoff. Plus other ways to win smaller cash prizes.

i think this will be the best super bowl since the pats-rams super bowl . i think we will see many surprises.

i pick the steelers. destiny has led them to the super bowl. quite frankly, they wouldn't be in the super bowl right now, if it wasn't for chicken broth's (his new name -- ben roethlisberger. i don't want to spell out his whole name. so i will call him chicken broth . hahaha) tackle against the colts. if he didn't make that tackle, indy would have stolen that game, and bettis would have retired with that knowledge he blew the game for the steelers.

but the steelers are in the super bowl. the seahawks are a different story. seem to love shutting people up, saying they can match up with the elite. they proved they can win without alexander against the skins, and also proved they have a pretty solid defense against the panthers. but guess what ? the "12th man" will not be there @ detroit, so things may be a little different.

steelers - seahawks ! let's get it on !!!

i will foresee my M.V.P. pick. My pick will be Heath Miller, the tight end for the Steelers, because he will score 3 touchdowns. :wtf:

What about having the league high of 50 sacks?

What about sending 7 players to the probowl. Including a rookie.

What about the seahawks having the best (second best? It's one of the two) redzone defense in the NFL.

"During the regular season, they allowed only 3.6 yards per rush, a mere five rushing TDs, only six runs longer than 20 yards, and a single 100-yard rusher (Tiki Barber of the Giants, who did that to a lot of defenses)."

You don't hear about any standout receivers and huge playmakers from the seahawks, making you think they don't have that explosive of an offense. That's because when most QB's will throw to one guy the most "Cough/ Steve Smith /cough" Matt is busy throwing to 9 guys in one playoff game. INCLUDING the backup QB!

I agree w/ all the above, ofcourse, theres no arguing that the Seahawks are an elite team. All of those stats aside however, they are still unproven against other elite teams both b/c of their easiest in the league (by win percentage) NFL regular season, and the fact that they played the #5 and #6 NFC seeds at home in the playoffs.
The Steelers beat Cincy #3, Indy #1, and Denver #2 (AFC seeds) to get into the playoffs, and are a battle-tested team that have proved they can play an elite team and win.

That is why they are favored.

Battle tested or worn out by the time the Super Bowl comes around from playing 3 straight games on the road against the top 3 seeds? Hmmmm......

regardless, I don't see pitts winning. They won in denver from a poor performance by plummer. They won in Indy on pure luck that ben was able to make that tackle.

I don't think it will be a very close game, and the pitts offense will have a hard time rushing the ball. And thy will have a hard time stopping the variety that the hawks are able to put up in regards to receivers.

Superbowl = Neutral territory. Homefield and visitors advantages both apply.

What's with the "destiny" bull? i hear the analysts on SportsCenter, PTI, Around the Horn, etc keep referring to the Steelers run as "destiny"

why? and please spare me the rattling excuse of "the first #6 team to go all the way in the playoffs" that's not destiny.

destiny = selling focal point for the super bowl being in a cheesy town like detroit = jerome bettis @ hometown detroit = tears and clapping all around.

also , i see the media "trying to sell" chicken broth as the current tom brady of the past. tom brady is old news to the media now. they want a new darling, and quite frankly, it's chicken broth. i wouldn't be surprised if campbell's chicken soup signs big ben to a fat contract, and he is the focal selling point of chicken broth. move over donovon mcnabb. meet campbell's new sponsor. haha.
