Addicted to progressive trance!

I'm looking for progressive trance suggestions, in particular I'm looking for similar stuff as the progressive trance that was released from 1997 to 2002 on labels like Hooj Choons, Baroque, Rhythm Syndicate, etc. I totally dig most of these tracks, this is what progressive trance should sound like imo, none of that lame mcprog crap. Is this kind of prog trance still being made?

Anyway, some of my favorite prog trance tracks:

Odessi - Moments Of Space
Space Manoeuvres - Stage Two (Space Manoeuvres' Total Separation Mix)
Datar - U (Tarrentella & Redanka Instrumental Mix)
Breeder - New York FM (Van Bellen Remix)
Breeder - Tyrantanic (Breeder's Underexposed Mix)
Orbital - Nothing Left (Breeder Remix)
Tilt - Children (Tilt's Courtyard Mix)
Tilt - I Dream (Tilt's Resurrection Mix)
Sasha & Darren Emerson - Scorchio (Sander Kleinenberg's Scorched Mix)
James Holden - Solstice

Anyone have any other suggestions? Any prog trance experts on this board? Damn I love this stuff :eyespop:

Very nice list!!

Personally I like Tocharian and the Intrinsic label? Great stuff. Or anything from Plastic Fantastic and it's sub-labels.

I love this style. Sadly, it is rarely made these days, and usually ignored by top DJs when it is. Instead we get McProg, Dutch Epic, and Electro-toss.

I would say the last major progressive trance track was Junkie XL - Beauty Never Fades in 2002. That's my marker for when it died as a significant style. There have been a couple productions since then, but not many: Tilt - 12 (Original & Max Graham mixes), Cabala - Vision of U, Nikola Gala - Subterra, maybe Group Therapy - My Own Worst Enemy.

As for progressive trance at its zenith, here is a really good thread of suggestions a while back.

As you mentioned, Hooj Choons, Baroque, and Rhythm Syndicate were all significant progressive trance labels. Bedrock, Renaissance, and Hook were also very important.

Global Underground used to be the final word in progressive trance compilations. Check out 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 18 for predominately progressive trance GUs. Digweed's 019: Los Angeles was doubtless the death of progressive trance on Global Underground, signaling the elite shift to house and progressive house.

This was my list from that thread, but there are so many more great productions from the 97-01 era:

Hook:
Progressive trance of a trancy style was the hallmark of the Hook label up until about a year or two ago, such as:

DeNiro - Mind of Man
DeNiro - Evolver
DeNiro - Elan Vital
X-Cabs - Infectious
Christopher Lawrence - Renegade
Christopher Lawrence - Wasteland
Christopher Lawrence - Interceptor
Christopher Lawrence - Rush Hour
etc.

Early Renaissance compilations
Some of the earlier Global Underground
Early compilations from D:Fuse, Noel Sanger, and Dave Seaman
Oh, and of course Sasha - GU013: Ibiza

This was trance before the anthem, before Sasha and Diggers turned their back on the sound, as well as a bit of spinoff once the Oakenfold-style began to take its own course. Christopher Lawrence still spins his own unique brand of it, but not too many others.

Dark Train Mix. And it was so before its time it's ridiculous. Progressive trance years before the genre even existed in proper.
