ok, that makes a little more sense now. for some reason your first statement made me wonder if you thought everyone who went to clubs were always on drugs. i understand now. |

I drove 6 hrs to a party in ATL one time, not taking that trip again, it was so not worth it. It is the same here, only thing that is active at all is this club scene except it isn't so fancy, its DnB in grungy bars.
I guess we have a similar sentiment towards those clubber types, I just wish there was somewhere one could go to have fun that was outside of the places that cater to those people, but they are the ones spending all the money so naturally the parties happen for them. |

It very well could be a US fad(maybe it is more of a southeasters US fad, both of us are from the south it seems), perhaps the overseas clubs aren't full of snobs like the ones here are. We get alot of these stuck up types, clubs are full of people flashing their status symbols and acting full of themselves. I kinda thought this happened all over the world(to some degree) but I've never been outside the US aside from a couple trips to Canada so I really have no idea.
"Night at the Roxbury", the types of people in that movie are the types of people I feel fit the definition of "clubber", complete with the gold digging bitches trying to score rich guys. |

guess it depends on the type of club... that kind of culture is likely to exist in many places, all over the world... (though most that i have been to here seem to be mostly ok.. barring the ritzy cheesy ones). it's just that i was always led to believe 'clubber' was a general all-encompassing term for all the different types you get |

It's quite the opposite here, actually - when you go out clubbing nobody really cares what you look like or do, the important thing is everyone's enjoying themselves and the music above all. |

I noticed the same thing when i was in Germany. I didn't really know , however, if it was that specific club i went to, or if it was the general trend. |

that is so not fair, argh! I look for that type of environment whenever I go out and I have really bad luck finding it. Most of my bitching about party life is because I can't find a place where people are allowed to just be themselves. I get sick of being judged by everyone around me, I can't dress or dance like a lunatic when there are negative consequences for it, sigh.
Why do you think it happens this way? Anyone know of places in the USA that get decent trancy music where my complaints don't apply(preferably near employers in the computer industry)?
Over here, clubs have dress codes, and policies like 18+ for girls/21+ for guys. There is a guy standing at the door making sure that everybody that gets in looks a certain way, everyone gets patted down at the entry. Your odds of getting inside increase greatly if you bring females with you. By the time you get inside everybody has already banded into their separate cliques, and they stand around at the bar or in front of the DJ ,watching and pointing and laughing at anybody who looks outragous. I feel like these places are more about hooking up than they are about enjoying music.
If you listened to GDJB you would often hear the MC's talking abut the club policies and what the people were doing inside, you hear that stuff and it fits right in with the things that I am bitching about. It just seems like wherever you go you have to fit into this certain image or nobody will be nice to you(if you can even get inside the door).
I can't stand it, so I go to parties in the middle of bumfuk nowhere, or to the things that people throw in their basements and stuff. Some of those dirty hole in the wall type places are full of people who don't care and are just there for music, but you never find any trance in those places, only psy and DnB, sometimes harder/faster stuff. |
