Why do you produce?

Just a topic that will help us share.

I started producing trance mainly because I had a hard time finding songs that I liked (I'm kind of a picky listener). Just all that power to make the songs that you like is great. I eventually grew to love it.

What about you guys?

When I was a kid I used to make midi files on Cakewalk Express, no knowledge of music at all @ the time, and then when I was 16 I downloaded the Demo to FL3, eventually I found this website, found out some tips and tricks, bought Fruity Loops, then I started reading tutorials that the site provided, over time I built my VST collection and then here I am today :)

Good Question:)

I guess it all started when I heard the first prodigy album.

I loved it, which gave me the desire to create.

There's music in me that wants to come out.

There's no reason I "chose" to start producing, it just sorta happened naturally. I come from a home where there was music on practically all the time and everyone in our family is a music fanatic. My dad knows pretty much everything there is to know about the history of rock'n'roll, my brother produces EDM and is a drummer in a punk band and I do the things I do.

So, to answer your question - I don't know. I just do.

I really got into the Dj side of things first, after making mix tapes with the pause button taping the radio when I was 15 or so, started clubbing, loved the music bought decks, then a sampler, then a synth, then a.....

my dad is very musical, so i grew up in a home filled with various music. i used to play with 'mr drumstix music studio' (midi software) when i was a kid and make my own weird music. i still play piano, though i've given up my pianolessons that i used to have when i was younger... the edm interest started when i heard some of it over at a friends house in like.. 97-98. then after a few random techno cd's, in 99-00 i started with trance. i guess if i hadn't found edm, i would be producing/playing/creating other different styles of music. so i'm in it for the music basically :P love it
