Is anyone boycotting Space this year?

Space always leaves a bad taste in many peoples mouths every year. Just wondering how many of you have decided to boycott.
Mattivi
i dont know about boycotting, but my days of buying space passes are over with. and with so many cool pool parties going on during the week im going to day party mostly instead of night party this wmc. maybe im just gettin older, but the thought of being crammed elbow to elbow, ass to ass, with 3000 sweaty people doesnt sound so attractive to me anymore:o

Well...
Honestly, I went to Space a few times last conference...and had no issues whatsoever...and now that I live down here, I still haven't had any issues...

You have to realize that Space is Miami's busiest club, period. If you are going to go, go early...if you show up at 4:45am expecting to get right in, you will be disappointed....The fire marshall showed up last year unexpectedly and I know there were issues with people getting in because of that as well...

I have had nothing but great times there, but have heard many horror stories from folks about it...But year after year they bring the goods...The Meganite and Yooshi party were two of the best ones last year IMO...

So if you are going to go...go early...buy presale tix and don't try to hit up 764309867 parties and then expect to just walk into Space at 6am...there is always going to be a line after 1am, you will have to wait...

But, yes, I will be hitting up a few parties there this conference...:D
Mattivi
space really could ease all confusion and madness by doing a ticket/space pass only events during WMC. they wont do that, but its not a bad idea. that way you know what the attendance is going to be everynite.

Have you ever been to conference before?

Plans get changed and people fall asleep, get hijacked at another party, get lost, hook up...etc

Look at the TA Dinner last year...like 100+ people were supposed to turn up...50-ish did...Once you get down here, plans get thrown out the window!...LOL

From a business standpoint, you want the club to be packed...so you sell tickets at the door and the later in the night/earlier in the morning it is, the more they are...that is what you can do when you are the top dog and the best place in Miami with a 24hr liquor license!

I am not saying that Space does everything right, far from it, but I am saying that to have a club half full because a lot of people that bought presale tix haven't shown up yet, is silly. I know quite a few people that bought presales to Space last year and didn't use them...

Bottom line is...WMC/MMC is the biggest EDM event in the world, Space is the top club in Miami...if you take certain steps and prepare correctly, you won't have a issue...if you don't, you will be standing in line with the rest of the 7934876389547643 people that came from other clubs and are willing to pay top dollar to get in...

have i ever been to conference before?! what are ing kidding me? ive been going in one shape or another since 01'. and its obvious you never worked at a club before. they have these little things called tickers that keep track of the count of people going in and out of the club, and most reputable clubs use them. so if all these people "get hijacked" "go to another party" then they can than start to do a door cover. and if your club capacity is 3000 and your keeping an accurate count(which space doesnt) you know how many you can allow to come in. even tho yes the venue is amazing, the best djs come there, blah, blah, there customer service can be lacking, ie, last year. so quit defending space with all this "get there early" cop out bull. alot of people were told," buy a space pass dont wait in line" and didnt get in last year. that my friend is false advertising. pure and simple. i got there eary so i didnt get shut out myself, but i feel sorry for the people who got left in the cold, because of the severe lack of organazation on space's part. nice try kiddo.

ROFL...i like the 'kiddo' bit...but you have no idea who you are talking to...LOL
So, you are telling me that if they sell enough tickets to sell out 90% of the club, then they should only sell 10% of capacity? C'mon now, you may have 'worked' at a club, but you obviously have never been in a management role....that is just silly.

I am not saying that Space has done everything 'right' in the past, as I posted before...far from it...and I agree that they shouldn't have had the 'guaranteed admission before 5am' bit on a Space Pass or ticket if they can't pony up and follow through on their promises. But EVERY, and I repeat, EVERY club has had something like this go on during conference...Space is not unique in this.

I am sorry for the folks that thought they could waltz right into Space at 4am...It happened to me last year at the OM Records party at Mansion...I had presale, but couldn't get in, they were over capacity...do you hear me bitching about it? No way...that is all par for the course when thousands of people converge on a city for one reason only...to party.

Anyone and everyone that has been to conference before should KNOW, and if they haven't been, then they should read these boards and find OUT about things like this! Space being packed for after hours is nothing new...People act like this is some new thing...

If you don't like Space, then don't go...there are plenty of other parties goin on...if you are going to go to Space, just be prepared to wait if that is going to be your last stop of the night/morning at 5am...

BTW, I live in South Florida and frequent Space several times a month...I have had nothing but good experiences with the staff, they have all been top notch and treated me with respect. I have seen them treat PUNKS with what they have recieved, rudeness and arrogance.

whoa whoa... everyone chillax!
Mattivi- Spankmeister was just asking if you'd been to conference b4, and not in a condescending way.
Also, in no way is he saying Space is without fault or issues. He is just lucky that he wasn't 1 of the hundreds of people left out on the street w/prepaid tix unable to get in.

I was 1 of 100 people that bought a Space pass the 1st year they installed it- it ran so smoothly that year that it seemed like the logical thing to do the following year. Boy, was I wrong! The next yr 1000 people bought it, but for some reason Space decided to make things so difficult on themselves & insist on xeroxing EVERYONE's ID EVERY time they came to use the pass. Can u see what a problem this would cause??? Plus, there were a million other ridiculous things that they & their staff did that year, I wont go into them.

It would be nice if Space got their act together for conference and showed some customer service w/regards to entry, but its the biggest cash grab of the year for them, so maybe they just dont care? Every year they instill better 'options' for the clientelle to lure them in, but when it comes to executing the plan, it ends up being a bigger disaster than the year b4.

LOL...I love ya Nat!
Yes, Conference is the biggest cash grab for all the clubs in Miami, and if they were all open 24 hours like Space is, then there wouldn't be the issues there are. But since Space has been the only thing goin on at 6am on a Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon morning, then you get a huge influx of people there...I am not saying it is right or wrong, but when you are the only game in town and you have 3 or 4 times the total capacity of the club standing outside waiting to get in, mistakes happen.
el.maestro
There is alot going on everywhere. Space is not a requirement.

I've heard all the bad stories, but I just gotta be able to see a Sander terrace set one time in my life! Even if it means getting there at 9 :)
Mattivi
i see some of your points. and no one is saying or expected to just "waltz right into" space without hassle. but the facts are alot of people got screwed out of their money. and yes i know space is trying to turn a profit, but the facts remain even if those people who brought presales didnt come, space still got their money. and you keep arguing points that i never said, like the 90%/10 thing were the hell did that come from?! all they really would have done to keep everything organized was to have a clearly POSTED ticket/space pass line on one side of the club and a clearly POSTED non ticket line on the other side with the doormen on loudspeakers if need be directing traffic. (this is afterall WMC and space should have anticipated big crowds, and employed more security). so once the ticket/space line thinned out and most everyone who paid upfront to get in, got in, then they could start letting in the non presale crowd in. and then its give and take from there. that way they could still 'cash in' on this 'huge wmc' event, and from a "business standpoint" and customer service, everyone is happy.

nobody on this thread was ever "bitching" about anything just stating a point a view. i personally am not going out of my way to go there this year after last years fiasco and the rediculous crowds, tho the fire marshall kept the crowding decent, probably better than 04'. and fyi 75 percent of the people who attend these events have never heard of tranceaddict, cooljunkie, clubplanet, etc, and half of the 75% dont even speak english, so ergo they dont have the knowledge or the sense to get their early. but here your preaching stuff that has been spoken and retreaded countless times before. basically preaching to the choir, no offense.

lastly, im sure space's mangagement is making there money either way, 52 weekends a year. dont get me wrong i love space, used to go there two weekends a month, and have had some to the best nites of my life there, but last year they dropped the ball, pure and simple. not trying to come off angry or hostile at all, i respect your opinion and you make some good points, im just saying i dont care to really make space a priority this year. there is plenty of daytime action going around, not to mention most the same acts that come to space for conference come there all year long. peace, love, and electronic musik ;)
