this will only be on for a limited time but this a downtempo mix I compiled a few years ago on a hot summer's day in the garden stoned - some of it is mixed, some not to me it was irrelavant creating the perfect mix as was trying to capture just how I was feeling that day which was pretty great - there are some live elements in the mix, various sax and percussion done by a Mexican friend/producer who was staying with me at the time - massive props to ARIA - http://solare7.com/ARIA/index.asp
at the time I called the mix RANGE - i hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it
----------------------------------------------
Toronto happened and a then special place called Boa came into my life - There are very few venues around the world which are able to really get the best out of a DJ and allow them to freely express themselves musically - I was lucky enough to play at this venue on 270 Spadina for 18 months on a regular bi monthly basis and I have too many fond memories of the joint
the first night I will never forget and especially playing one of my all time favourite tracks - DO IT PROPERLY (civllies & cole produced - RIP)
the reaction from Rony at the time was priceless and was taken aback whn he then later that day gave to me as a gift the original 12" - RESPECT
I thanks Carey for sticking his balls out after listening to one of my mix CD's and bringing me over and having faith in me - these times are never forgotten
so many special memories as i said, notably the first time, MAD HATTER, NYE (oofff) and on a personal note my last time in May 2005 - having listened back to this set over and over again so many emotions going through my head knowing that it would be my last time
the past is the past and I always look forward - ONWARDS AND UPWARDS - what is pleasing to see in Toronto is the rate at which the scene there is expanding on a global scale - gaining a very reputable word from all four corners - whether it is Guvernment, This is London (potential from early reports which is great to see) as well as other venues around the city and the rebirth of 270, you guys have a wealth of options so treasure it
as for me I will be back I believe in May and details of that I'm sure will be leaked out when it is time -
A special mention again to carey and the butterfly crew - thanks for coming into my life and Carey all the best with the launch of the new venture end of April
\NEVER SAY NEVER ;)
much love

You are the in' man, Demi. Every set I've heard from you, I've enjoyed. Every set I have on my computer of yours, I've listened to many, many times.
You opened Labour of Love this year PERFECTLY. The last few tracks you played before Digweed went on set the mood just right.
I sincerely hope that you play at 270 rather than at venues like Guvernment and This is London. Although I enjoy those clubs, I personally believe that when you play at the venue at 270 Spadina, you create a vibe that I have not felt when you've played at other places. I think I speak for a lot of your fans in Toronto when I say that we really, really want to see you back at Sonic. |

Demi, I hope that you view Toronto as your second home. We will always support you as we support our locals.
See you soon.

Oh man...Demi, I remember when I first heard that Kiss100 set that you did on Digweed's show in late 2004. It was, and still is, one of my favourite radio mixes. But I could easily say that about everything I've heard from you so far; from the mixes I've downloaded, and the times I've seen you live. There's just something about your sound that gets me. Everything from your flawless mixing; to the way you put a set together; to those times you decide to have a little more fun and mash-up a few tracks (I'm never gonna forget that Elements + Flying Song mash-up from your anniversary party), you never cease to amaze me and you'll always be one of my favourite DJ's.
Like Highroller said, I sincerely hope we'll see you back at the spot where it all began. As much as I love the other clubs, it just won't be the same without you gracing that room (and that soundsystem) on a residential, or non-residential basis.
Cheers :)
ps. those mixes of Discopolis and Supernova are wicked. I didn't know you did them either...sweetass tunes. |
