I figured I would get there early enough to see Andrew spin live, because I had never seen him before. I had only heard him spin on party107.com . . . So I get there around 8:30 driving all over trying to find a decent parking spot. Sure enough I find one, get to the club around 8:45 . . . There was only two of us at this point waiting.
I was annoyed at how they had not been prompt at letting anyone into the club who had paid for tickets. This means I missed part of Andrew Pearson's set. ARG! Finally we get in nearly 12 minutes after 9pm. From there I check out the dance floor sound quality by going into the middle. I was soooo blown away at the sound quality that I knew I had to be right there in the middle when Ferry got on the decks.
I then chill for a bit close to the dj booth when, Packer and Carlos along with Dave Shortly after came to say hello. Good thing Packer told me about his vinyl under the dj booth because I did not want to carry mine around the entire night:) Packer helped me out tremendiously and put my vinyl in his bag, so the rest of the night I only had to carry around a beer! WOOT!
At this point I was observing the crowd as Dave steps up to the Decks. A lot of crowd interaction was going on when Dave stepped up. I think Dave messed up intentionally just to be like listen up crowd and from there the crowd did listen by keeping the bpms in beat by clapping their hands to other parts of Dave's Set. . . I thought that was really cool. Never saw to much of this at Crystal Method's Venue. .
As Dave's Set transistions into Matthias's set the dance floor was packed. I roam around for a good 30 minutes, then I make my way to the middle of the dance floor. This was when Matthias was close to the end of his set. He played some track that said, "Ay papi," That was like sex on the dance floor for me. Infact I felt like Matthias was playing Sex Trance at this point and everyone on the dance floor was in a massive orgy.
From there I was in the middle of the dance floor in the exact spot for massive sound quality. . . Ferry gets on and I go crazy for the next hour dancing my arse off, enjoying the music. I was diggin the sounds coming out of those speakers. I remember one point where the surround sound had a subtle counter melody flying around my head while the main melody was being hammer out.
At any rate, the night was most excellent, lets have more of these!!! HAHA |

Starkillers - Diskoteka (Kobbe & Austin Leeds mix) [Spinnin]
Most of the set would be more or less progressive/electro house with a beat of a punch where the bassline is concerned. Much similar to what Edgar V plays when he opens, though he gets all his tracks a year in advance just about. |

my quick days late review. got to the club druing the second half of daves set. crowd was already packed like no other. ran into packer and andrew and chatted for a few. saw bruce there and he dropped a cd to my friend (nice mix) and we proceed to try and get the group into a crowd. never happened. myself and my friend found our way to the dancefloor during matt's set and never left that spot from that point forward except for some more water:crazy: . so then ferry came on and my senses went from nuts to overkill. matt was tearing my mind apart and ferry went ahead and destroyed all that i had left of senses. so phreaking good. saw jbooty there as well as some other friends throughout the nighttook a few pics with my camera when i was sane and i should post those up. nice to see ya agin edie. you should come on and post :(

Zeonfiend took away the long review I would have written.
I got to the club a little after midnight. Matthias KILLED the place. I've always thought Matthias was good, but he suddenly was an order of magnitude better. Plus you look good Matthias--have you been working out?
Only complaints: CROWDED. Best tip to remember at Sky: the upstairs bathrooms never have a line.
For food, I got a Casino El Camino Buffalo Burger. Best Burger in Austin. |
