I'm sure there'll be a number of conversations in the next few weeks about the Olypmics so I figured I'd start a thread, keep all comments in one place.
Here's the link to the CBC coverage of the Olympics --> CBC
And Olympic Games offical website --> Torino 2006
I only saw a few minutes of the Opening Ceremonies - pretty cool as far as I saw.
Canada already won one gold - Jennifer Heil in Women's Moguls.
wooo hoooooo - Canadians are starting off really well.
Women's hockey just beat Italy 16-0 (although in the NHL it's good sportsmanship to stop scoring goals after you're ahead by like 6 or 8 goals, but here points can mean a lot so I guess they want to get as many as possible!)
Anyone know anyone personally in the Olympics this year.
I know of a guy, Jeffrey Buttle (figure skater) who is doing UofT Chem Eng part time as well as winning nationals and going to Olympics! - much respect for that.
I wonder if there will be controvery again this year in the skating competition.
Olympics are always fun to watch. :)

I'm a former national junior team biathlete and have a couple of friends competing - Robin Clegg didn't do so hot today in biathlon, but it is a tough field.
I will be up at 4am to watch Becky Scott in the 15km pursuit - She should rock - hopefully won't have to wait 2 years to get her gold medal this time around! |

FIRST PERIOD in the womens game: 7-0 Canada over Russia!!!!
Canada's defence is decimated, no Neidermayer, no Jovanoski, now Blake and Proger are hurting.. Phaneuf should have been named to the Taxi squad. :whip: |
