i'm a member of sigma pi and i don't regret a thing.. i've had no hazing, though i've had a hard time in pledge-ship... i trust my brothers whole-hartedly and that's all that needs to be said. if you want it... do it. i love my fraternity and if you like the guys you've met, do it. you won't regret it.. the brotherhood of greek life it non like anything you could even imagine.. do it, bro! though sigma pi kicks all other ass.. haha.. have fun with lambda chi.. like i said.. you won't regret it! |

Actually Fraternities are pretty cool. If i went to any other school besides Virginia Tech, then I might've joined. But every single fraternity guy i've met down there has been a lame one-sided meathead.
But i've been to other schools where the brothers are real down to earth and quite cool. I dunno, i guess it depends on the school you go to. |

ok, I've always been kinda against frats. like many of you apparently. Always said its not for me im no frat boy blah blah. But then i hang out with these guys at a hotel for like 2 hours and they bring me aside and say "at this point we are willing to offer you a bid" and i say "at this point i wil.. (awkward pause) accept." then cheering blah blah blah. Then we throw a massive toga party. i get wasted beyond belife and my friend steals my night's ass, so i cry, but anyways... The next day im sick like a dog, not hung over, but can't move, im freezing when its 65deg in the room, and i feel like im still drunk. at 1 i get a call to show up at the house that afternoon. i say ok. So while im sick, hungover, and freeezing my ass off i go to this house and barely make it through this long pledge. It turns out that the frat is a christian frat, im atheist. but w/e im practically unconcious at that point. then they have me sign some papers and w/e. so anyways im proly still sick because i actjually wrote this huge ing paragraph on TA about htis but anyways, im thinking of de-pledging.
another reason not to join frat = $565 per semester dues. |

i guess you missed the posts in this thread about not having to pay for friends. and from what i remember, when you sign those papers you're legally bound to pay for the dues. |

In my house not paying dues = getting kicked out. There was no legal obligation, however, to do so. |

if you are at a school with >30,000 students do it... b/c that means there are a lot of sororites to ddo things with.. |

| Ive not paid my dues in a long time... fortunately theres nothing that the girls can do about it. If they make a stink, they know Ill just deactivate. Its not worth the hassle. |

| I was thinking about joining ZBT untill I met the people and found out about how stupid it really is. Some kids are cool, some make the biggest party animals out of themselves and the frat and some are just s period. They don't do the pledging thing they rush but they still make you do . like this one kid was telling me how they invite you to a party and if you don't hook up with a couple of girls and have them all know (pretty much getting them to you or each other UP) you're not worth it. |

what i would like to do is just be friends with the guys there. GW is about 16000 INCLUDING Graduate students so it not like im a nobody here. but i have a good number of friends already not in teh frat and i want to hang out with them proly more often then my would be brothers, especially because i met them through what i would consider "ledgitimate" means. what i DONT want to happen is to de-pledge and then have the fraties say "1.) you owe us hundreds of dollars, ******. and 2.) dont show your face round here!" becasue as i said i like them i just dont want to do all the formal crap and pay money to chill with them. I think my decision is pretty much made already, its just a matter of how i do it and whether i give it another week b4 telling them or if i do it tommorow.
