February 2006 Mix

New mix folx! Actually two, check out Submerge. I know I say this a lot but I put a lot of time into this one; lot's of time compiling the tracklist, working on the transitions etc.. I really like how it turned out but I think it took too long considering my other mix, heh. Anyway, as always, tons of great tracks in here. Went right to the edge of the CD with this one. A lot of the usuall suspects it seems, but also some suprises as well. Closer, Eden, Greek Trick, Ocean Rain, Kiss etc.. Electrolux is probably the first track that made the list, really like that one. Kind of a weird tune, eerie feel to it. I like that but on top it's got a great bassline and energy. Eden is on of my favorites in here it reminds me of Mark Norman - Phantom Manor a bit I think. I think it kind of encompases what I wanted in this mix. Sort of an eerie, creepy vibe, but also energetic and uplifting. Maor Levi's Lital is one of my absolute favorites at the moment but it was a pretty hard one to fit in until the last moment. I had everything finished except I needed a track to fit inbetween Eden and Lital. I tried a few different tracks then I got a hold of Hydroid's new track Sonate; man his stuff is pure bliss and to my luck was a perfect fit for that slot. I didn't like having two of his tracks so close together but if it works it works. Also got to mention Incognition, ing spectacular tune; being whore'd by a lot of folx recently, and with good reason.

thanks man. really glad i could cause you to like tracks you didn't like before. that is almost the best compliment i could get. i reviewed your mix, again very nicely done.
oh and the last track is quite a bit differen't yes. almost housey. just thought it was a good finisher. went well with the tune before it melody-wise and had the perfect energy i thought to end the mix on. but yea i can understand why it would rub some the wrong way.

interesting choice of titles... i find that i do the same thing. sorry i didnt get back to you on this one sooner, but between the bar, the record shoppe, and djing... well, you understand.
so, i finally got a chance to listen on the way to key west yesterday. i popped it in around islamorada and next thing you know the mix was over and i was in key west.
now for the review: i find i review mixes very differently than other people. i tend to look at the experience as whole, and the emotional or mental journey on which the mix takes me. i was really hypnotised by the rhythmns and drums. and all of your transitions were well placed, well chosen and smooth. there was no joining between two songs that jolted me out of my -somnolent- state.
thanks fo the mix... i have always loved mixes where i never noticed the passage of time.
