| yeah I see it becoming more mainstream. Not so much on the radio as in the top 40 clubs in Windsor, where it's played alot more than it used to be. House is a little further ahead although is does kind of annoy me when people dance to it like it's bs rap song. Problem is they play the same damn songs all the time lol I can only hear "Satisfaction" by Benassi so many times. |

| Happens to every genre of 'underground' music, even gangsta rap, jazz, disco, etc.. so this is no different. The only problem is that you'll hear more of it because we have tons of tv and radio stations than ever before, and advertisers/marketers are trying to tap into the highbrow street kid. Maybe most blatant example is Mitsubishi commercial with Dirty Vegas and Telepopmusik, Benassi with Wendy's, and I'm sure Tiesto isn't too far behind with some cheesy commercial in the works. I still love that hot chick breakin' in that Mitsubishi car, however. ;) |

I agree with you there is no age limit but ive seen alot of older people bash the young once for listening to it and making stupid comments like " what do you know about trance keep listenin to ur euro cheese " which is stupid because everyone starts somewhere if anything they should be pushin them to listen to trance more rather then bashing them...

| trance has been commercial and mainstream for years. "underground" music doesnt exactly attract thousands upon thousands to a huge massive party |

'Depends on what glasses you're using to observe it all. BeB is still considered to be very underground but it will bring in 15,000 people. I say it's underground because there's still a whole world out there that have not even heard of a Tiesto or AVB. |

i dont think trance has become mainstream. so far the only argumentation we have in this thread for being mainstream is radio. if thats the case then trance would have had a mainstream inmpact long ago as id&t and others came way before. i mean i do not agree that if we hear a year old song on the radio bing played 10 times a day that it means trance is mainstream. they still introduce paul van dyk's tune the other side as his NEW single ffs. majority of the radio stations only play tunes from top 10 djs and even at that they play the tunes that have been played out on every dance floor in the world. i mean you will never hear z103.5 play a tune from Magnete. you will never hear party 107 play Solarium. you will never hear energy 95.5 play Cold Blue. all you hear is the regular Armin Tiesto PvD and other related stuff. this is NOT mainstream in my opinion.
to me trance will become mainstream when ppl who actually make the real trance and understand what trance is and know what trance is about get radio time and the recognition they deserve. to me trance will be mainstream when big record labels stop their record signing politics and just go for talent and sound. to me trance will be mainstream when you could turn on the tv and see a big live event such as sensation being aired on nbc. untill that happens the talks of being mainstream are just crap specially coming from general public who do not even listen to trance anymore or as they announce it openly they dont but yet feel like a personal obligation to reply in trance realted topics and / or feel the need to inforce their opinion on trance to others just because they have been listening to music longer than the other guy.
I hope Trance or for that matter anything EDM never becomes mainstream because that will just kill the reason people make music. People would wanna do it for money and status rather than talent and sound. Jon O' Bir is a perfect example and so is Tiesto and many others. This is a very interesting topic, very argumentative but yet could be very knowledgeble. |
