Obviously Cheney got the idea from watching Wedding Crashers. Then it was only a matter of time before he put his nefarious plot into motion. |
Funny. Me and a buddy shared this exact thought earlier this morning. I heard David Gregory going ape in the press conference asking about the delay from Cheney's office in reporting the incident. |

Omg, no way.
I was seriously joking around. I honestly didn't think that anyone would think this way.
Pretty funny really :haha: |

| Is Dick still hiding? One would expect him to speak to the public, or at least someone working for him. Damn him for making the public wait! I wonder how Whittington is going to look like after surgery. Maybe uglier, maybe not. |

Cheney Alert
The government plans to establish a color-coded system to warn of future veep attacks
By Andy Borowitz
Newsweek
Updated: 2:32 p.m. ET Feb. 13, 2006
Feb. 13, 2006 - Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced today that his department would immediately implement a “Cheney Alert” system to warn Americans if an attack by the vice president is imminent.
The Department of Homeland Security has been under pressure to respond to the widespread panic and anxiety that have gripped the nation since Cheney shot and wounded a fellow quail hunter while on a hunting trip in Texas over the weekend.
Across the country, people have holed up in their homes and hoarded food and water, fearing another senseless attack by the gun-toting vice president.
“What we have learned, the hard way, is that Dick Cheney can attack without warning,” Chertoff said. “It is our hope that with this Cheney Alert system we will be able to give the American people some warning before he strikes again.”
The alert system, with five color-coded levels indicating the likelihood of another brutal pellet attack by the Vice President, was derided by some in Congress such as Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del), who likened it to “closing the barn door after the horses have escaped.”
“The fact is, the White House already had ample warning that Dick Cheney was going to strike, and they sat on their hands and did nothing,” Biden said, referring to a Presidential Daily Brief dated February 4 with the title, “Dick Cheney Determined to Strike in U.S.”
Elsewhere, former Education Secretary William Bennett said that he was “outraged” that an NHL gambling ring has been in operation for five years and he was never invited to participate in it.

So some of you didn't actually READ the story I take it? Cheney didn't know the guy had come up behind them because he didn't announce himself, which you're supposed to do. Anyone who ever hunted birds would know that they move so fast, and you're focused on them as you track them, that you're not going to notice the background. Birds don't flush out and start flying straight away from you every time. They fly all over the place. It's not at all surprising that he shot someone behind him if he didn't know that person was there. The birds move so fast, there is no time to focus on them AND the background.
The guy isn't blaming Cheney apparently. Neither is the women who owned the grounds who witnessed it.
But I guess because he's a Republican with a gun, he should just be persecuted...unlike the Democrat with the car who killed the women at Chapaquitic (Kennedy). :whip:
Oh, and yes; There is OBVIOUSLY a conspiracy in here somewhere. |

Dude. the fact is that he had a gun. It's EVERYONE's responsibility to make sure no one will get hurt. Sure, the guy that got shot did not say anything to warn that he was around. But did cheney make sure that it was safe to shoot? No.
I don't hate cheney, and there is no reason that I should, but damn, hunting is retarded. |

| NBC has a late-breaking story now that the man who was shot had a heart attack and the birdshot was lodged in his heart. |

| ^^^Cheney was hunting properly in a two-man formation. The guy didn't warn him that he was nearby, and he should have. It's not the first time a hunting accident has happened. It has it's risks. But Cheney did nothing wrong or out of the ordinary, given the circumstances. |

Well, he probably should've identified what he was shooting at and been a little less hasty on the trigger, but hindsight is 20/20 so it's easy to pick apart the incident after the fact (even though none of us were actually there to witness any of it--and the eye witness accounts do seem to support Cheney). However, if the other guy wasn't following protocol, then there was certainly an increased risk of incident. They make these rules for a reason! |
