UK vs Canada music scene

Is it just me or does it seem that the U.K. is more evolved in music and more open to experimental sounds?
Like such big differences in the sounds from Uk then Canada. There's more of mixture of music. |

Age old comparison.
Hasn't changed for well over 30 years...
UK is normally a year or so in front of Canada and two in front of the U.S. (unless the artist is from the U.S.).
I would have thought this paradigm would have changed with the advent of the Internet and for those that use the Internet, it has. However, record companies, like a dinosaur in a tar pit, are still clinging to their old distribution methods and further their demise by attacking the very core of their existance with judicial witch-burnings; its like watching a terrestrial black hole collapse upon itself.
Am I comparing the record companies to a huge vortex of suck? Uh...yea... :p |

this is sometimes the case even when the artist IS from the U.S.,
apparantly the Backstreet Boys were already super successful in the UK and Europe before being heard of on this side of the ocean..
please don't ask how i know this :p |

I think it really more boils down to the what the actual artists are creating than the record companies.
There are more resourses in the U.K., being a musical centre, for an artist to flourish considering record labels, promotions, fan base. It gives More the oppurtunity to push the music further. That's why some of our most talented have moved to the U.K. and Europe ex. Mark Scaife, Richie Hawtin, DJ Preach.
Also consider how their is such a large population spread over a small area. That way music in the U.K. and Europe receives more exposure over a much shorter period of time. |

| All true and valid points. It might also have to do with their club scene. Much more part of mainstream culture. I wonder if people would ever consider moving to the UK for the music and the club culture? |

lol I know many people who've moved there and that was a large part of there reason hehehe.
I guess it was one of the many reasons why I moved there too :D
