I doubt that I am the only one with this question.

What is the go with all Psy Trance artists using those ty sounding zappy kick drums that have hardly any bass in them?

i love those 'ty sounding zappy kick drums':tongue2

Most of the older more goa-oriented stuff uses bassy kicks. But that 'thin' kick used in alot of full-on psy just fits in with the rest of the sounds they use, and it adds to the whole "plastic" sound.

You get used to it, I actually found it hard to get into psy due to the percs at first but it does grow on you. Some of the kicks that are used are too clicky though, it gets to the point where it doesn't even sound like a kick anymore.
RebeL9
i think you are refering to the israeli full on sound?
I agree that alot of the full on can become boring after a while. especially because most producers use almost exactly the same basic basslines.
but check out older goa and psytrance to discover very powerful and banging stuff

If you are having trouble getting into Psy just by listening to sets and tracks then I definitely recommend experiencing it in a club. It's an entirely different experience!

I've often wondered about this. These kick drums are the reason I'm probably never gonna lika psy.

Because it PSY. And it is supposed to twist and wash your brain like dirty socks, then hang it out outside when it's freezing, and let the water sublime.
