anyone seen this?
imdb info
pretty interesting war movie... the lacking of action made it even more powerful imo. very good acting from jake gyllenhaal and a few others.
it certainly sparked an interest for the conflict that was 'the gulf war'. quite a beautiful movie too, in terms of photography and editing.
anyone read the book? |

i thought it was ok.
7/10 perhaps. maybe i just need to see it again. i loved the visual side of the movie. like the oil fields being lit up and the whole desert just being a thick muck of oily goo. interesting movie |

| i saw the previews for this movie and thought it looked like just a newer version of that movie with cuba gooding jr...the one where he's a cook. didn't really have a desire to see it |

| Since I considered "American Beauty" one of the most overrated, pseudo-intellectual stereotype-orgies ever, I was a bit skeptical about "Jarhead". I thouroughly enjoyed it, though. No forced intellect, no kitschy pathetic sentiments but plain reality which speaks for itself. Breathtaking cinemtagraphy (oil fields!) and a great sense of humor. Really recommendable. |
