-Do you believe in God for other reasons than rational arguments? why? what is the role of faith in this context? what kind of things can we have faith in?

-If you DONT believe in God, why not? can you give reasons to support the claim that God does not exist, or that we shouldn't care about the question?

-Is the notion of an omniscient, omnipotent & benevolent God compatible with pain and suffering, regardless if the pain/suffering is caused by human free will or by natural causes. Why or why not?

yeah i have to write a paper. i can think for myself but its always nice to hear other peoples opinions

im an existential atheist. whether there is a god or not, it doesnt matter because we're just a speck in the universe.

have a wonderful day :D

As far as Im concerned... everything that is associated with God, is also associated with people and no proof of anything happening or existing. I consider the entire bible a series of folk tales told to the masses to scare them into believing something that might not exist in a ploy to control them.

100% atheist. reason? i was raised french catholic.... enough said on that topic. ive sat through enough catholic masses to realize the sheer and utter bull that is the catholic church. imo religion is the single most abused concept int he world.... and bush thinks the US has a drug problem....

im going to start my own religion... called colonelcrispasism...... all ordained ministers will be dj's....except tiesto and armin.... they have already been excommunicated based on the fact taht i dont like them.

communion will be replaced with class A's, and i think we should do it 3 to 4 times every sunday as opposed to just once.

my religion will preach equality and fairness, without bias on race, gender, previous religion etc..... all fans of EDM are welcome to join... except people who actually like hip hop, and junglists can stay away too....

and then..... when the sun and venus are aligned... we all drink the koolaid.....

meh it starting your own cult.... err i mean religion, is too much work

im just going to stick with being an athiest.

..that's exactly what the church did in the crusades. created all the gimmics so people would be catholic/christian.

not to give lectures or anything, but a tload of that propaganda still exists today! and i laugh at it

It doesn't seem logical to me. I cannot force myself to believe in something or not. I either believe in something or I don't. I could go to church and pray, but it would only be a sham because down deep I would know I would be lying to myself.

ask any jew if they like being jewish: "yea, its neet!"
ask any jew if they believe in god: "HELL NO"

im obviously not speaking for the religious ones.. but they only make up 10% of the faith

in aditional to ratial arguments, i do not believe in god becuase not only do i not see miracles, instead i see masses of people getting hurt. thr role of faith in this context is to have faith in humanity. we need to look to eachother and in ourselves. the able should acknowledge this and help.

i dont believe in god because of proof. i take things at face value and treat life with my experiences. the means is what i look to, not the end. i do not try to give reasons that i dont believe god exists, its fine with me that way and its fine if you believe. what matters is if we can live together knowing this.

i dont think its compatible. the pain and suffering far outweighs what good we have done, via sin or not. study history. pre-jesus was worst than a.d. the crusades my god. free will in my book, humans can be nasty as bitches. so godamn .

srry i went from academic to "colorfully vulgur" because im in a hurry now to get to class its all your fault if im late.
