Complain to PvD's people, not the people who want to enjoy the show at the price they're charging.

Chill out there...first off I have NEVER said anything about the price until this time and I think that it is okay for us to say this, we are the ones that want to be there but get priced so the "rich kids" can go in our places....you know about 5 years ago I saw Aerosmith in concert and the ticket price was $25!!! $25!!!! and they are a great band that has been around forever....although I might get flamed for this Dave Matthews Band is one of my favorite bands and THEY CHOSE to stop playing large venues because they wanted to be closer to the fans and have the REAL fans there and you know what they didn't add more dates or charge more for shirts or any of that other to make up for it....they took the hit and you know what ended up with more fans and more respect from the true fan.

does anyone think that making a petition to Made would be an asinine and futile idea? :conf:

I wasn't directly saying you, it's a lot of people.

Also, Dave Matthews was one of the bands that I think really started gouging their fans for tickets. I saw them in 1998 for like $30, by the time I finished college, they were doing Giants Stadium shows for like $55 for the cheapest tix, which is one of the major reasons that I stopped seeing them. Phish was the same way. I saw them in 1997 for $25, but tickets were $45 in 2003 when I saw them in Long Island, but for them, I didn't care.

Then again, I remember paying $.99/gallon for gas when I started driving in 1996. Inflation's a bitch, what more can I say.

Indeed. If you look at that flyer from '99, $25 seems like a damn good deal in today's dollars but realistically, personal incomes in NY have been growing at an average yearly rate of about 4.5% to 5% and area inflation has averaged 3.5% in the time period since '98/'99. So, those twilo tickets are more like $32-$35 in today's dollars. Given PvD's rise in the charts and the fact that this is a "special" outdoors event I'm not finding his prices ridiculous at all. Then again, I won't be going to this and will probably buy tickets and scalp them for a 400% profit...

Anyway, there are still plenty of awesome shows out there that are much cheaper. I mean just look at this weekend. You've got a choice between two great djs who are doing free shows if you get your ass out there before 12... AND they're both top 20 on the DJ mag charts. WOW!

edit: AND they're 5 and 8 hour shows! I think i just crapped my pants.

+1 A lot of people on this board get to attend a lot of parties for free at Crobar & Pacha. Parties done by Made are the majority of the parties that I pay cover for, as they don't have guestlists done by anyone I know. I understand it, though. What Crobar & Pacha lose in covers, they make up for in drinks. Since Made doesn't own a club, their only profits are the cover charges.

2003's set sucked.
2005's set sucked.

I missed the good set. There BETTER be a good set this year.

Oh and I want to hear that mix of Push the Button that he started with, again. :D

I think this year should had been armin's or ferry's turn to spin at central park. I got no problem with paul van dyk but come on the same dj twice in a row.Lets see something different for a change. We've seen tiesto,we've seen pvd , now it should had been armin's or ferry's turn. But i guess Made is worried about turnout cause they remember two years ago basically nobody showing up at crobar after they cancelled it on cp due to rain which we never got. By the way that night at Crobar was the best set Armin has ever dropped in new york city. But regardless should be a great event .
If i had a choice i'll prefer tiesto at central park but i'll see him in greece over the summer hopefully, if he has the same tour as last year.

This is his 4th year. He's done it every year since '03.

Tiesto at CP in 2004 was one of the worst EDM events I've been to and I go out almost every weekend, sometimes more than 1 night/week. Sooooooo boring and lacking flow.

Except for 2 years ago, late September when tiesto was at cp. That year it was supposed to be armin the first week of August but they cancelled it because of the rain which we never got. So they decided to bring tiesto the month after that.

tiesto's cp set was garbage (the irony is that he spun an almost identical set tunewise at space 2 days later and the party and vibe were fantastic)

still, i wouldn't mind having him -- or other djs -- back for an outdoor gig. maybe made can work something out =)
