Progressive house/progressive trance??

Ummh... What is the line between progressive house and progressive trance? How can U tell when some song is progressive house or trance? Ok ok... Maybe some think taht this is very stupid question, but hey, I am new...:p
So, please tell me what U think!! |

| i'd say allot of the music is pretty intertwined. but some progressive stuff is one or the other |

| well, the two are very very similar, and alot of songs have characteristics of both.. a good example of prog trance would be "airwave - save me" (or any airwave tune for that matter) and an example of a a prog house tune would be "subsky - four days (gil remix)" (or at least until the break down).. yeah, but dont worry too much, cause the genres are so freaking similar its not worth arguing about.. |

Ok... That waht I thought, that they are very very veeeery similar genres (almost twins :p ).

hmm.. its really hard to find an example of a progg trance/house tune because many songs have elements of both, but heres a couple that i would consider prog house..
way out west - intensify (peace division mix)
coast 2 coast feat. amanda jamison - be with me (remix) |

progressive house - try listening to Darren Emerson, Deep Dish or the tune XPRESS2 - Smoke Machine...its progressive/funky house at the same time...Dirty - Dirty...amazing progressive house tune
progreesive trance - James Holden, some of Digweed's stuff, Ashley Cassele
the styles are quite simliar...but you can tell when progressive house is spun, usually coz the beat may seem slower and less trance sounds are in it...progressive trance tends to be more deep and darkish, but not all is like that

progressive trance has melody in it.
Well it should have otherwise it just isn't trance.

| I think Progressive Trance would be stuff that Orkidea plays...and Progressive House is stuff like Way Out West, Blackwatch, etc. |
