^^^ hell yeah...imagine having Guv as "yours" for the better part of a decade!
I'd try to *occassionally* spin overseas...call in a few favours from big name residents over there who have passed through Guv...more as a vacation than anything else :) |

Mark Oliver could do so much more but hasn't y is that? I think some of these other local toronto dj's should have a shot. He gig @ GuV is getting oLD. |
oh, come on.
leave the man alone. he is a very accomplished individual and im sure he gets all kinds of offers for international gigs but he chooses to stay here. he has a faithful following at the guv and chooses not to miss it. that is probably the most commendable thing a dj could do. he doesnt want to let down his people.
kudos, mark!
see ya saturday. woot woot |

I agree with all of the recently above above... Something to consider is many of the touring DJs are still fresh in comparison (not all), don't have a quality family life like MO does. In my opinion and experience, there is a number of the touring DJs that are attracted to the same things bands enjoy touring, like groupies willing to have sex with them in any city they visit. Yes this really happens with DJs, just like rockstars. Many girls have fantasies of doing a big name DJ. It's bragging rights, just like I'd be bragging if I did Sandra Collins. That comes with fame. I'd like to formally name Paul Oakenfold to this type of DJ, as I've heard this more than once from my gal friends who went up to see him the last couple of times he played at the Guv.
So I'm just giving an example, not a total reason, so I hope my comment isn't taken out of proportion. |

Mark is the resident at arguably one of best clubs in the world. That is one hell of an achievement.
At the same time he has balanced a fulfilling family life (wife, kids, love, happiness).
Kudos to Mark for balancing career, friends and family. I'd make the same choice if I was in his position. |
second that! truth is there are so many good toronto dj's hard to narrow down.... |

He is pretty much a Toronto Legend and that great but I'm many people would welcome and and appreciate a new resident @ Guv just to change things up a little. You guys aren't afraid of change are you?
It would benifit the everyone, the scene, the new dj's and Mark Oliver. It doesn't matter if you are the CEO of a company and have an amazing position you cannot grow beyond that unless you have change. So bascially Mark Oliver is great but could prob do even more great things by allowing a up and comming dj's a crack at an Internationally recognized club residency.
Be going see Mark Oliver spin for years... So I'm hardly a hater |

| I would have to agree. Mark does very well for himself and i give him all the respect he deserves but i would love to see other faces up in that dj booth. even seeing deep groove playing up there on the chinese new year was great. i guess the other question is how long do you think he will hold up that residencey? |

Miss Blu wins hands down for me...
Mark Oliver and Deko-ze are right behind her and a definately honourable mention goes to Simon Jain. |

| I remember when Chris Sheppard was the resident before the name change. He went on to other projects like the z103 stuff like mix/compilation CDs and aerobics CDs. Where is he now? |

Greg Gow = most talented, as both a producer and a DJ. He's getting international attention more than most of the DJs listed in this thread. |
***Finally someone realizes a Dj who does nothing but work, work, and more work. Greg is amazing technically, his programming is consistent, and his producing...well I think we can all agree the label (Restructured) speaks for itself. I am more than honoured that I get to play with Greg on a regular basis. You learn from THE BEST, especially 1st hand!***
Honourable Mention ---> Definately Nathan Barato, Brad Copeland, Sean Miller (The guy IS ON LAWLER'S LABEL...WHAT MORE DOES HE HAVE TO PROVE???), Deep Groove (Alex & Ariel always deliver!!!)
Future Stars ---> Jeff Breen, Dj Gamma, Ryan Carlucci, Richard Raiban, Simon Jain ------> Keep an EYE out for these names at UPCOMING parties this year!!! :whip: :whip: :whip: |
