wtf??

the way i see it, electro is an evolution of musical tastes

fluffy trance (asot, armin) -> vandit trance -> prog (sasha) -> house/funk -> electro funk -> mr.roboto -> beats and beeps -> back to fluffy trance

me likes electro.

especially the 80's retro-ish sound being thrown into many house productions these days.......

but the term IS being thrown around like a slut.

just because there is an 'electro' influence, doesnt make it electro.

i hate labeling genres anyways.

"I've got this tribally electro progressive minimal tech house track that has a wicked buildup and its in awesome!!"

^^^^ shut up.

I think that's my biggest problem with the term. Two SUPER different genres botched into one broad trendy term.

(1) the happy fun synth retro electro of the past
(2) the swedish/german down key crunch electro sound

When i think of proper electro I still think of Feisherspooner and with electroclash I usually think of Ladytron.

I don't have a problem with naming into genre's because it intended to help us organize a style in our heads.

When it comes to the music busines I personally don't think for marketing purposes it's a problem it's a tool, but some critics believe it hurts the art.

I think critics should smell their own flatuence.
