| It was an excellent night...I don't feel up for posting a full review, but my only real complaint was that she didn't come on til almost 3am, then the lights came on at 5:30. |

Yep...she'll be back. She seemed to be enjoying herself a lot last night, moreso than any other time I've heard her play here.

Honestly the best party of the year for me so far! I had been craving minimal for months now, and I certainly got what I wanted. Got there around 10:30 and Greg Gow + some other guy were taking turns spinning. I was VERY impressed and I want to know who the other dude is. It was tech and proggy house vs. minimal and hard techno. ing awesome! Right when I got in I heard Muscle Car being played, which pumped me up to maximum overdrive. Stood around and chilled for a good hour or so while the place filled in. The crowd wasn't half as bad as last week; recognized some of the old Systems crowd in there, making me a very happy Cribby. Loco Dice came on and tore myself a new lol. He was decent at Guv 9 Year, but yesterday...whoa!! I made a list before the event of tunes he would play from his set at the Kinky Club on Feb 12th. They were tunes I named myself because of the soundeffects:
ripper farts
chicken song
knock on wood
magical wolf cry
tribal lalala
yea I know...I'm totally ridiculous lol. Anyways...Loco managed to play ripper farts and knock on wood...and I went totally mental to it. Total awe and happiness for me. His track selection was just superb and the mixing was top notch, although some weird transitions went on..probably on purpose. Shortly around 2:30-ish Misstress Barbara came on and started destroying me. I thought she would stick to minimal but she played alot of regular techno and some techy house which was pleasant. Thought she would play more tunes from her current album...but I think I only heard her own track called I Love You. I signaled a heart to her and blew her a kiss lol. Hmm what's this? Barbara plays the ripper farts song too! :O lol... Overall pretty great; my only disappointment was that she didn't play my fav tune...Argy - Love Dose. I kept yelling at her to play it, but I think she got a little bit irritated...ah well..left around 5:30 with a HUGE smile on my face :D
If I was overly annoying to any of you yesterday than I apologize :P
Great dancing it up and seeing Kelly, Ray, Tara, Josh, Tara #2, Sean, and Frank. Awesome meeting Sly Guy (Andy was it?) and Nadezhda (Amanda.) I know I'm missing someone else I met...please refresh my memory :P
Funniest moment of the night:
Me: Hey Anon, do you know if there's another washroom around?
Anon: Dude, I was just gonna ask you the same thing...
Me: Haha dude, my stomach is killing me, and there's only one stall in the washroom.
Anon: Hahaha same here.
Me: It's because of the pill I took..
Anon: Me too...this is too funny haha
Me: What a weird coincidence..ahaha
Anon: Ok, let's check upstairs, but if we find one I'm first!

Anon: Nah...I just went upstairs, walked around, and blew a bunch of farts so I feel much better.

it was great meeting so many TAs, Kelly, glad i finally meet you, chris, dude you are a non-stop machine LOL, i was the dude in the white shirt we talked i don't remmenber now about what :-), also met Josh and Sly_Guy, cheers guys.
i wasn't too much into the music, i guess i haven't been exposed too much to it and the fact that i didn't recognize a single track LOL. i also notice the "weird transitions".
all in all it was a great party, since the music was not of my liking i got the chance to socialize a little bit, met some beatiful girls in there and even got her phone numer :-) whoot whoot, also catched a headache so many beers i had :-( .. |

Last night was AWESOME. I had SUCH a good time and saw so many people that I haven't seen in eons. Barbara surprised me, she stayed pretty hard and pumping and the tunes were different and eclectic and again, made me throw my hands up in the air as if to say, "where do you get these records?!"
The club really impressed me, sans the bar prices...ouch. The washroom stalls with their OWN SPEAKERS?! I don't think I have ever had a pee while listening to techno in such a confined little space...hehe
There was some top 40/plastic/money crowd there, but by the time she came on (which was LATE - close to 3) they had cleared out. Plenty of room to dance and plenty of opportunities to hoot and holler (which I did a LOT of). Barbara must be sick of hearing my "woooooooo!" and seeing my hand in the air. Sometimes I find myself looking at her in wonder from the dancefloor...she is truly amazing IMO! Last night I thought, she is in her prime, in her element again...I've heard Barbara play everything from techno to house to minimal in the 15-20 times I've heard her live, and last night everything really seemed to fit for her...she seemed happy and inspired, and I know she was struggling with that for awhile (hence the shift in sounds).
Glad to see there was a big TA crew out...Carey, I had to do about 4 takes before I recognized you! I'm going to call you buzz-cut-Britt now. ; )
Though I'm glad the night ended at 5:30, it would have been nice if she'd gone on earlier...I don't think she even got 3 hrs. |
