Whereas the subliminal/tech/electro house sets spun by the swedish house mafia djs and digweed (and other pioneers of the sound) had great flow due to their effective balancing of their progressive sound with raw tech/electro beats. However most DJ's who try to spin this type of music in clubs sadly focus on the raw tech/electro beats at the expense of the progressive side. For me, this produces isjointed sets as raw beats are dropped one after the other with no forethought. I call it the "dance for 30 seconds, wait for 30 seconds, dance for 30 seconds, and repeat" effect.

well said. One of the reasons why I'm so sick of "electro" as everyone likes to call it is because of how monotonous it gets after 30 minutes. As much as I don't want to make this comparison, it's essentially like trance, except instead of insane OMGIDIE synthy buildups, its recycled raw basslines. Spread the rawness out and its much better. Put it together with tech-house, tribal, minimal, and it sounds great. But most DJ's just come in and play the raw, hard, in-your-face that gets boring way too fast |

| indeed...most electro house is just one bassline looped 50 times in a track with a little beep or squeak here and there..quite easily produced...but when ur "intoxicated". 3 minutes of that sounds like 30 seconds so its alright... |

I like the fast ticking beats in electro...if that makes sense... The beat can finally keep up to my feet and my shoulders can finally keep up with the music...
Perfect harmony... :D |

Electro has been around for ages, and has been hot for a lot more than 4 months. In the GTA, its started to gain more playtime and popularity since the summer. However, this edgey hard sound has been exploding in Europe, and more specifically in Ibiza for the past 3-4 years. Take for example the club DC-10, with its circo loco parties. The parties, and the dj's that spin at them throw hard, dark, and dirty electro beats atcha all day. They're sound and many like them (Loco Dice, Tania Vulcano, DJ Hell, etc, etc.) is what a lot of dj's and partgoers are kind of moving a bit of their sound to. Take for example the new sound of misstress barbara. Anywho, all I think is that this isn't some new music trend, or fad. Its here to stay, and is appreciated by those with a mature electronic ear.

| Electro House has been popular over the past year because its catchy, its loud, and it sounds amazing on a good system. Producers like to make it and Dj's like to play it. This stuff is what I love right now and i don't see it dying out at all yet. Some Dj's are still just discovering this stuff. |
