So Trance isn't dead then?

hey peeps
I was introduced to the wonderfulness that is trance around 1999. I bought my first CD in 2000 and have recorded tracks from the radio on ye ol' casettes till 2002/03.
Now I live in a small and musically retarded country and I figured trance pretty much died around 2003 and since then I relied on my ol'crap and have been out of the genre for many years.
Then I found this place n_n. It made me happy, I downloaded most of the stuff here and it just proofs how difficult it is to get some decent music in the place where I live.
I never even heard of most DJ's I found here and I must say I am glad I found this place and that fire is relighted.
So my questions would be, what have I missed? What's good and whats something i definatly need to hear. Like, what can you recommend?
I realize thats a rather open question so lemme just share what kinds of Trance I'm really into:
It's mostly the melodic/uplifting stuff. I like short (4 minute-ish) tracks that get to a nice build up around 1:17 or longer tracks (8 minutes) that do get to the point and go from buildup to break down and back etc etc.
Not too keen on loads of bass, as I see that as a supporting "instrument" But I do enjoy the occasional hard stuff as long as its melodic or uplifting.
Some of the tracks types I like would be:
NU NRG feat. The Moon : Teh moon loves the sun
Cascade : Transcend
Andy B : Lift
Estima : hitman's Paradise
Most Talla stuff was real good and general like instrumental tracks are welcome too.
techno-ish is okay too, as long as its melodic and/or uplifting.
Thanks much!
If this tread should be somewere else, please feel free to yell at me in a kind and orderly fashion

| Actually, House and Trance both died in 1823. Since 1918, Happy Hardcore has been the only genre in existance. We're actually HHC Addicts. |

Nice to see people taking me serious.
*sarcasm detector explodes*
I do remember a "sound" change which is now called "commercial trance" I suppose... But then what do I know.
So any good dj's artists you could recommend then?
Preverably people who actually have more than one good track. |

Preverably people who actually have more than one good track. | Here's the thing: EDM is based solely upon elitism.
You're more elite if you hate trance/say trance sucks/insist trance is dead.
That's why you always have some people saying "trance died in ____, ___ killed it." Blah blah blah.
Trance is alive and well.
Look up Above and Beyond, Gabriel and Dresden, BT, Marco V, Markus Schulz. |

Pretty much everything and every artist signed onto the Anjunabeats label is a complete win.
Also look up Oceanlab, it's an alias for the Above and Beyond group I mentioned. Truly quality guys.
Then, branch off from Anjunabeats as you gather more names. |

Yes. We seem to only get RnB and Rap/Hip Hop and the big loads of pop music...
You'll die if you hear "Frans Bouer" and various other Dutch singing "musicians"
I stopped listening to our radio stations as trance was either gone or gone bad 0_0.
Ehehehhehe, I could get killed for saying I love trance in high school

Erm, do the names Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten or DJ Tiesto for instance ring a bell? :wtf:
*Waits for someone to make the obvious pun with the words "pop music" in your original quote and me mentioning Armin, Ferry and Tiesto in mine :o* |
