doesnt seem like a wise decision. i think they will pay dearly.
some of the better trades would be the ducks getting friesen. hurricanes getting recchi, and the oilers getting samsonov.

i hope the devils step it up now..its GAME TIME!!! ;)

Richardson is a solid, stay-at-home type D, but really just replace Klee, right?

Ferguson did the only thing he shouldn't have done and that was nothing. Leaf fans would understand if they dumped a lot of players and went for a rebuild or if they brought on some veterans and made a run for the playoffs but to do nothing......the fans won't understand nor except that.

Ferguson is an idiot and he should be the first to go.

yeah i'm confused.....so this year they suck and there not working on rebuilding nor the playoffs so next year were gonna ahve this team but one year older....boooo

with the new economics of the nhl there is no simple way to rebuild a team overnight....especially one as badly in shambles as the leafs! dumping players and signing new ones before the trade deadline isnt going to help the leafs. It takes years of work to build a great stanley cup contender IMO

Plus Leafs don't have much that other teams want and Leafs willing to trade.

Honestly, I think that the Leafs not making big moves is not a bad thing. They have been in a free fall the last month or so, trading their players now would not make that much of a difference this season. When you consider who on their team would actually be wanted by other teams, I can only think of Sundin and Belfour as viable options, and you cannot trade Sundin as he is the leader and face of the team. Very few of their other older players are worth while picking up, and I can't see giving up the good young players that they do have, as then they would not have anyone to rebuild with. And as hard as it is to accept the leafs do need to rebuild.

And as a long time Oilers fan the trade for Samsonov is huge. We needed a #1 goalie, but the addition of another legit scoring threat was needed more so. And take it from me, it does take a long time to rebuild a playoff team, it's been a long time since the good old Oiler teams of the past, but when it happens it is very much worth the wait.
