takin TO by storm: the whole 'bottle service' House music scene

unless u've been on another planet in the past 6+ months.. you may hav noticed that every club downtown these days seems to have a 'bottle service' House music nite. something that's been around in cities like New York, Miami, London, Paris, etc. for a while now and finally touching the shores of Toronto (then again when is TO ever one to lead?). anyway, clubs which tho not traditionally hav ever had a house nite, but house with its much more mainstream appeal, are starting to take on the concept in what is becoming a lucrative business it seems..

and I am more then willing to let these downtown clubs have these nights....I just won't be apart of them. :D |

| I have no problems with people who enjoy these clubs...they are just not for me. I want my clubs like I want my music....dark and dirty. |

they aren't always dark .. but certainly are dirty :thepirate

| I do not know about others but my personal prefrence is still buying beer and whatever drink i may feel like enjoying at the bar. I still come out cheaper this way even if i pay 5 dollars per drink and have 12 in a night :) ... $150 - $225 and more for a bottle that you can buy at LCBO for 45 to 60 bucks just doesnt seem like the best deal. Plus most clubs that i have seen offer average stuff not even the best quality. So clubs, keep the bottles to yoself for the rich ginos who need to impress the ginas and please bring on the house music :D |

i am not sure about TO clubs but in Miami each waitress or club promoter that books a bottle table gets commision off the sale of the bottle. for example if the bottle was costing the client 200 bucks ... the person who brought that client in would get 65 bucks and rest would go to the club. higher the price on which the bottle table is booked then higher the commision :). in majority of the clubs the same bottle can cost 200 bucks on one table and then 450 on another :) depends on how good of a salesman / saleswoman you are or how stupid the people who buy these bottle tables are lolz. most clubs will argue the point that they also provide a lil bit of privacy and comfort with having a reserved table but i mean c'mon lolz since when do you go to a club for privacy and comfort ....

in no way shape or form do my comments mean any disrespect to anyone who works in the industry and provides bottle service or any other similar services in clubs or resturants or wherever :) |

I was in Caracas Venezuela in november, and I had bottle service there... we didn't have a reserved table, but they brought our bottle of local rhum to us with all the Ice, coke and lemon juice we needed. We were 6 people... It cost us the equivalent of $40 US. That's the way it should be.

p.s. I saw the same bottle in liquor store the next day for $5USD, so I recommend to enjoy bottle service, but in another country! |

Well said Emery, it's true I've noticed it almost becoming standard nowadays...
I think it has nothing but pro's for those who do and don't want to use the service. The main one being it's ability to generate more money for the club, and perhaps ultimately allowing for more expensive talent to be brought in? Or is that an incorrect assumption?
Can you have bottle service at any other EDM night? That's one big prententioius can of worms... |

If you think that it's about the actual BOOZE, then I can see why it'd be shocking - but if you get a large table with 6-10 people, you end up paying not very much more than what you'd probably spend at the bar on yourself anyways, and you get prime real estate at the club, and you think you look cool. (which, at these clubs, is true)
My BF has friends that do this - I can't say it's for me or it's not for me, but I don't get why people care so much that its happening. |
