naw, ive already done enough smiting.

ive a got an old cat (13). he's declawed, and he tries to sratch furnature, but cant scratch it(good thing). he's just like any other cat with or without claws, so i dont view it as inhumane. he's also indoor, because i know the danger of being outside defenseless is. if your cat is an outdoor cat, then dont declaw it, but if its indoor, you might as well. the procedure has no long-term negative side effects at all, and the short term is just the recovery period of less than one week.

:stongue: That's alot of cats. I can barely keep up with the two in my house.

And, with the whole declawing issue. I don't think it's right for an outdoor cat. But for an indoor cat, I think if the person cares more about the furniture, than a living breathing animal, it's understandable, but not excusable. At least they are put under when the operation is performed. It must hurt while it's healing though.

the water thing works, we used it to keep my cats from eating the plants inside. if you have problems with your cat jumping on counters, just put little rolls of tape so both side are sticky around. the cat will jump up and land on the tape, which it wont like, so the cat runs off.

i never tried to tape thing, but i do know cats do not like to step on tape.

get crappy furniture ;)

or there's also something called a tendonectomy...where they cut the tendons that allow the cats to retract their claws...rather than ripping them out (declawing)...it's a lot less painful, and you still have to cut their claws every so often cuz they still grow.

cats are wierd ...took this 5 min ago:

All you need to do is clip the nails( only the front) when they get a little long. Declawing is bad IMO. I just let my two cats up the couches...the less I bug them about it...the less they do it.

get a $10 scratching post.

or a fancy $30 one like this.
