Technically there will be elements in common, I mean, in terms of Dj talent, and that its friday night etc. but there was something about system that had in indescribible quality to it (atleast to me) that can't really be replicated, it might just be that the scene has changed, and I didn't? It's funny, b/c it's not like i'm some phat-pant wearing raver who wishes for oldtimes, i started as a clubber, and I have no problem w/ clubs having dress codes, the first time i went to system I wore a tweed buster and a tweed fishtail skirt (i didn't know any better!) and i'm generally pretyy fou fou with dressing anyway... its also not an issue w/ having nicer decor, b/c I definitely don't have a problem w/ that, i think it's more than anything the clientele and the vibe at other clubs, or maybe it's just not cool to smile at ppl anymore.

Well said.
I think we are kind of in the same mindset. I haven't convinced myself I don't enjoy the scene anymore, I guess I've just established my favorites over the past several years, and as they close or change due to lack of local support, I have fewer favorites to choose from. I'm not jaded by the scene...but I guess I'm looking for something more appealing. Maybe it is time I've explored the scene over seas? Anyone who talks about it ...seems to drool at the thought.

what the are you talking about? the crowd is great at TiL, the venue is way nicer, sound is more than loud enough, and the dj setup is more personal than it was at system.. kinda like it was at old system (before the reno). I also like how there seem to be a lot more attractive girls at TiL, not that i go to meet them there, but I generally feel better if there's something to look at while dancin :)

Then I guess they play the same boring housey/proggy/techy mixture that system did 90% of the time lol. That Breathe night was a real snor most of the time anyways.

I'm in a negative mood 2day lol but the above is still true.

Yeah..this club seems to we getting patronized by a notable number of TAs. What is the music like at Footwork.

By the way- I'd also love to find a place like the breaks room at the back of System. Man, when you walked down those steps some nights it was unreal. Rarely could you walk in there and not see everyone moving to a crazy beat; either dancing or sitting but bobbing their head, pumping their arm, or tapping the floor with their foot. Another aspect of System I'd love to find a half-assed replacement for.)

If you like a top 40 crowd go to a top 40 bar, ppl not even knowing the headliner that go there and say 'who;s? here tonight? i dunno some guy from the staes who cares! " kinda just don't set the rigth vibe

I went on an Addy and Dekoze night. It was bangin' beats. I danced for 3.5 hrs straight. I also found a pillar (remember the pillars at System?) to put my drink and purse on. The crowd was great. The coat check was a little slow, but the bartenders were good.

All in all it's my Friday night choice.
