| How many of you pay to download MP3s? |

Need a "both" option too!
And then I'd also be interested in how many tracks ppl buy vs. how many they DL (w/o buying).

I pay in different ways.
I have a subscription to some download sites, which have a good collection of dj sets. I feel the fee is justified because of bandwidth for the people who set up the site.
I also pay for soulseek priveledges.
I do not buy mp3s from iTunes, or anything of the sort. If i want an album, i buy the real thing, in FULL QUALITY.

| Never have and probably never will, Although beatport looks very interesting. But for now I'll keep on getting everything for free and thats the way it'll stay. |

id consider paying but i already spend 75% of my cheque of clubbing.......
sorry producers.......I steal your mp3's on a regular basis.
at least i still support the scene (i think ive paid to see almost every dj now), so i say it.
i do disagree with using stolen mp3's for profit thou. |

I'm the same way. I try if possible to buy the album directly from the artist so they get more of the profit than the record stores. (most recent example; the Jelo new CD)
Or I go out and support them when they come to town. or both.
For Mainstream stuff I'll often download a song or two from an album, If I like both then I usually buy the whole CD. If I don't like em I delete them and save my hard drive for more important things.
I've spent over $10,000 on music over the years buying albums.
I find about 50% of the stuff I actually want these days are mix sets from DJ's that are being distributed for free by the dj's as promotion anyway, so that saves my wallet a lot.
As long as the artist is cool with it, then I am too. |

i'll go see dj's and sometimes buy one of their cd's if it looks good. but i usually download dj sets which you can't find on cd's or single tracks that are impossible to find.
also. the full cd's that i do download of other genres, i will listen to for about a month or so then stop. so i don't see paying $15 for a cd that has only 12 songs that i will listen to for a month. |
