I think it's not fair how DJs are rated nowdays. In my opinion, headliners need to be separated into three or more categories (e.g. house, trance and techno)
House Trance
1. Steve Lawler 1. Ferry Corsten
2. Nic Fanciulli 2. Armin Van Buuren
3. Desyn Masiello 3. Tiesto
4. Hernan Cattaneo 4. Markus Schulz
5. Deep Dish 5. Johan Gielen |
LOL, I love how you bring up Techno in the first part, but then strategicly leave it out in your list, bc based on your lists you probably dont know any. |

there are more talented djs than DekoZe like Lawler, Masiello, Ali & Sharam and others who by no luck happened to be headliners. |
apples and oranges.
there is no need to argue where a dj sits in the grand scheme of things when it comes to being a headliner or local. if this argument was started last year, people would be putting sean miller in the 'local' group - but we all know how things have worked out for him.
people supporting local dj's is the first step to having them evolve to that 'next level'. if we start labeling, then the potential for growth is no longer, and we would be hearing the same ing dj's until we turn 40.
so why dont you all just keep listening to the dj's YOU enjoy, and keep the dj recycling process in working order so we have fresh talent that will keep our music/scene fresh, new and innovative.

The whole world decides who the best djs are, not us in Toronto. |
Go into another regional forum and ask people what they think about the DJ MAG poll and how accurate it is. I can bet you that you'll get similar answers. And believe me, you're not the first person to come on here and proclaim that DJ's at the top of the poll are the best ones; and that popularity somehow equals talent. Not to knock the talent and hardwork of the guys at the top, but by no means does the DJ MAG poll reflect ones talent, OR hardwork. |
