Sorry for big pics.
Adelaide.
City of about a million people and capital of the state of South Australia. Unlike most of the other major cities of Australia it was settled entirely by free settlers - no convicts here;)
Ian might recognise the bottom left corner. As much as I love Adelaide Oval it really needs to be done up, its getting pretty dishevelled now. Bloody heritage knobs won't let them upgrade it though :whip: Seriously, the plans look wicked and keep all the heritage and old feel:rolleyes:
Yes, Adelaide is the worst place in the world if you actually want something done. Too many people with too many agendas who end up stifling all progress:rolleyes:
Our food is amazing though. Seriously amazing. We have more cafes and restaurants per person than anywhere else in Australia, and the majority of them are seriously bloody good.
We have some great motorsport events here. We previously held the Formula 1 Grand Prix until 1995. Now on the same circuit we have the V8 Supercar (touring cars) Clipsal 500 race each March. Its the biggest and best V8 race in Australia, only outdone in size by the Formula 1 in Melbourne.
The Classic Adelaide Rally in November is another great event, a 5 day tarmac/targa rally for mostly classic cars, although some modern cars do take part in the non-classification class (stil driven fast but not competitive).
The National motor Museum in Birdwood (in the hills surrounding Adelaide) is a fantastic display of Australia's motoring history.
yay, more parks. We have a lot of parks. A lot of them look though. We have parks compeltely surrounding the CBD, but half of it looks and dead for most of the year.
oh yeah, our old trams. Uncomfortable, loud and always breaking down. But they were 85 years old and so there was a major uproar when we decided to upgrade them to ones that are actually useful.
Our drugs are crap but plentiful. We have a high rate of PMA and ecstacy related deaths. Our nightlife sucks for the most part though, most djs pass us by but that has been improving just recently, had a couple of promoters really strive to bring quality acts over.
Oh yeah, we have two breweries. West End is more of a blue collar brewer, do a decent draught. Coopers market themselves as upmarket stuff, do some good ales.
Our wineries are the best in Australia. There are 3 wine regions within an hour of Adelaide (Barossa Valley, Clare Valley and McLaren Vale). Clare Valley wineries are seriously good. You don't have to pay megabucks in Adelaide for some in good wine, most stuff coming from these regions is amazing.
So............ thats Adelaide. Where I was born and mostly bred. Its a nice place to live, but I've got absolutely no problems whatsoever (in fact i see it as happening) moving interstate, especially to Melbourne. A lot of people move to Brisbane and Melbourne.
oh yeah, I also work in the hospital I was born in. |

Yes, I had a postcard of the Adelaide Oval on my wall for years until I moved like this last couple of weeks :p My links to the city come in the fact that my grandmothers niece moved there 30 years or so ago, and settled down with an Austrian man (yes an austrian in australia, how confusing) and has 3 kids & now about 8 grandkids. She visits every couple of years & I need to get over there myself to see her & other friends in the next year or so :) |

oh well i can't figure this crap out.
I was born in Morehead City, NC which is right near a big Marine Corps. base called Cherry Point. I was only an infant when we moved and I haven't been back since, so I can't really tell that much about it, other than it's probably just a big town full of rednecks and military people. lol
oh well this link isn't working. i mean, it loads, but in order to see "Morehead City" on the map, you gotta zoom in, and i doubt anyone gives a rat's ass enough to go through all that. lol
