Here's another in the book of City of Toronto SCAMS
| quote: | Toronto city vehicles will be setting an example in reducing tailpipe emissions. The city wants to get tough on smog and is considering using automatic shutoffs in its fleet of 4,200 vehicles. The devices would shut off the engine after three minutes.
The city is also looking to add six idling bylaw enforcements officers to raise $367,600 from tickets.
Currently it is illegal to idle your vehicle for longer than three minutes when temperatures are between 5C and 27C. The ticket for idling is $130. |
Note the real reason for this law as i have highlighted in bold! |

last winter the OPP issued a warning for people not to let their cars warm up in their driveways unattended partly because of theft and partly because of emmissions....
the next day an officer involved in the issuing of the notice had her car stolen out of driveway with her police stuff in it INCLUDING her GUNS! they weren't happy with her. I thought it was funny. |

That's just plain stupidity!
First rule of weapon security: keep it within arm's reach, or at a safe location or with someone you trust.
Never, ever, leave a weapon unattended.
What a dumbass |

Was her bad in there too?
Because that's VERY bad too - if a Police badge is floating around!
That's serious bc of what could happen w/ it. |

yea, with work we are NOT ALLOWED to leave laptops in our vehicles or trucks. Its not deemed safe. If one is stolen from your car, WE are responsible for it.
obviously a car is a poor place to leave something - your house would be more secure.... or keep it aroud your person if you're not going directly back home. |

GOOD! they should do this. to many stupid idiots ideling their cars in parking lots chilling side by side talking, or people with car starters starting their cars up, then having them running for super long before they actually get in. seriously, for the average car, not talking about super old cars, it doesnt take long to heat up at all! take some time, use your $2 window scrapper on your window, stop being a lazy ass, and drive for 5 minutes, actually driving, to heat up your car! we do have winter coats, gloves, and pants, were not driving around in t-shirts and shorts in the winter! if you have massive fog so you cant see out, then wait 2minutes for the air to get warmer than it is outside, which will make the fog go away, then drive. dont start up your car for fackin 10minutes.
look at places like tim hortons, some of them have the biggest fackin line ups ever in drive thurs, and people are just sitting there waiting and waiting and waiting. i have no beef with drive thurs, i mean i use them, as long as they work and you get your fast. if theres a huge line up, park your fackin car and go into the store! frig! |

the spirit of the law is valid. But isnt that always the case?
Make no mistake about it. The city doesnt give a rats ass about pollution. All they see is money. Money in saving their own vehicle fuel and money in fining you for being a bad little boy.
Gotta love big brother "its for your own good, now hand over the cash."
For the record ive always been pissed off when i see parking bylaw officers illegally parked in order to ticket cars that are illegally parked. Talk about hypocrisy! If the parking laws are oh so important that we need to ticket and tow as fast as possible, why is the officer himself adding to the problem? |
