Restaurant/Food Recommendations

ok, this being my first time ever visiting Miami, i'd love to hear from some of the locals and WMC-veterans about their favorite restaurants in the area.

also if anyone could recommend any cheap good deals for tasty and satisfying food, that would be wonderful. i'm sure many of us are working within a certain budget, and spending loads of money on food every day isn't possible. i'd like to avoid crappy fast food joints and try out some good local places instead.

where can i get the best sushi? where can i get the best burrito?

damn this thread is making me hungry already. :clown:

If you are driving or if u rent a car.

Buy yourself a cooler.. Pack some liquor & mixers & go to PUBLIX & buy some subs.

Other than that walk up & down OCEAN drive if you are stayng @ the beach & pick a spot.

JERRY'S DELI
omfgyes! Jerry's Deli ing rocks. Its open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and its still hoppin at 4 am. Their menu is bigger than me. Well not really, but its like 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide and they serve almost any deli-esque item imaginable. And if its not on the menu theyll make it for you. The prices are (as usual for the beach) higher than they should be, but you do get a huge portion for what you pay for.

PIZZA RUSTICA*

***More important than conference itself***

3 locations: 1447 Washington Ave (next door to Crobar), 863 Washington Ave, & 667 Lincoln Rd.

Also:
-Jerry's Famous Deli
-Wet Willies- 760 Ocean Dr. Awesome food, and a million frozen slushie cocktails on tap. If there's room on the rooftop patio, eat there- good view of the beach.
-Grab a Cuban sandwich if u see one. There's a good spot w/a walk up window on the west side of Collins Ave somewhere between 15th-18th St.

It's always a must have even though it's pricey I splurge when I'm down in Miami, ALWAYS! Go for Lobster Bisque, Lobster Reuben, Crab Cakes, Rice Pilaf (it'll be upwards to $50 for that meal but its so worth it). I suggest sitting inside but you need a reservation, I usually ghetto it out and go to the take out side (next door to the actual restaurante) and sit on a bench or inside the take out section.

Mango's and their infamous wings!
Ocean and 8th I think

Sum Yung Gai <~funny name decent chinese food

Various Thai places along Washington as well...

Geez I really wish I went to Miami this year, breaking the streak after 4yrs...it got old...I'll be up north in vermont snowboarding while you people miami-it-out

PS-A great source of nutrition inbetween party phases where you know and I know you can't eat, I definitely recommend smoothies with protein and healthy doses of 5HTP along with a ton of water.

Water suggestions - pay the extra for dasani - Zephyrillis simply taste like hard chlorinated water, even though its cheap, spring for the more expensive water, it doesn't leave that nasty after taste!

HAVE FUN BE SAFE =)

stay away from any restaurants in south beach with the exception of News Nafe (great breakfast/brunch/lunch). the rest are overrated, overpriced, over everything. i'm mainly talking about the restaurants on ocean drive.

the only good (and cheap) places on sobe are like all the little pizza joints (pizza rustica) and there's also a place called The Sultan that has amazing salads and gyros...all greek stuff. it's right next to rokbar on 18th and collins i believe. i go there for lunch a lot on the weekends.

lincoln road is better for good food and service...there's a bookstore/cafe that has great salads and panini (i forget the name). if you want sushi, i recommend sushi siam (sushi samba is overrated, but has a better atmosphere).

like someone said, just stock up your fridge with stuff from publix...publix owns.

most important thing to remember is that ALL restaurants in south beach already add the tip, so make sure you don't double tip.

that is also the reason for the ty service you'll receive too.

no man! the only time i went there was when my firm paid for it at my last job and all i could say between stuffing my face was "wow"! amazing...love how they crack them for you and everything...we must have had like 10 fully loaded platters when we were there and they have great spinach and other side dishes as well.

i definitely need to splurge and go there some time. isn't there a season though?
