Last time I was working in cleveland, I kept joking that I was gonna go to youngstown and get some Amish Piece. I guess they go to bars there during thier time of separation. I mean hey! how many people do you know that shagged an Amish girl? :D
Aquadyne
I did in Wisconsin in a barn in 1999.

OMG, How did that work out for you?:stongue:

Did you do it through the whole in the sheet?:haha:

I felt like I was in 1699 instead of 1999. There was even a swaying lantern from a rafter. I was expecting a horde of villagers with torches and pitchforks to storm the barn at any second.

Ok, I have to ask. How did you end up in a barn with an amish girl?

It's a story that goes back thousands of years. Back in the olden' days of yore, roughly 4000 years ago - my people settled the Baltic Coast in Ye Olde Europe. My people were dubbed Livs which is where the name Livonia came from, subsequently Livs was amended to Letts by our german overlords in the yore days of the Teutonic Order and then we eventually proclaimed ourselves Latvians.

Given our rich heritage and history as outlined above, it is no surprise that we also have holidays rich in tradition. I suppose the most famous folk holiday is called Ligo. This is the biggest traditional Latvian festival, having a deep symbolic meaning for Latvians and known in other countries, too. The Līgo-Festival (Līgo-Eve) is on 23 June, with Jāņi on the following day - 24 June. It coincides with the summer solstice, and the festivities include many ancient traditions: gathering wild flowers and cutting boughs, making wreaths of oak-leaves and flowers, decorating houses and animals, burning a ceremonial bonfire and singing songs with the 'līgo' refrain. Ritual food includes Jāņi cheese, with caraway seed, and barley beer.

Nowadays, its just an excuse for Latvians to get together for a weekend, making giant bonfires, get drunk blind for the whole weekend and then possibly driving tractors while drunk on a farm.

This is how I ended up on an Amish farm in northern Wisconsin on a beautiful summer weekend in 1999. Latvians, being an earthly people bonded well with the Amish (I bonded too well apparently) and rented a very large space on their farm for the weekend with access to their amenities (like that hole in the ground they called a bathroom).

I was 19 at the time and it was my first time at an Amish farm. Being well familiar of their customs through years of scholarly study I was trying to be as respectful as possible of their way of life until this Amish girl started hitting on me and we went to the barn.

The end.
